I am now just over 37 weeks and as big as a house. Just curious to hear people's experiences of childbirth third time round.

quick and easy!

My number three was born 90 minutes after I got to the hospital, in the birth pool, with a puff of gas and air

4 hours for no2 and no3, but no3 had a longer 2nd stage. I was so much more in control. To my surprise I didn't have any pain relief (apart from 2 paracetamol in the early stages.

Easy - waters broke at 11.20, no contractions until 11.45 and DS born at 11.55. Like shelling peas

Very intense and quick in the end, after days of on/off.

My ds2 arrived very quickly so from the sounds of these posts I just hope I make it to the hospital in time!

First took forever and ended in an emergency C-section. Second took 8hrs and knives were being sharpened in readiness for a 2nd c-section just as she popped out via ventous.
Could have had the 3rd in a field it was so quick & easy. Good luck!

Under an hour. Born at home. It was so like my previous births that I didn't bat an eyelid when a midwife couldn't be found (she arrived just as I'd run the bath and was getting in - a measly 2 pushes and DD2 was born - the midwife got to clean up though)!

I had a minor tear and recovered really quickly. But the b/f was just as uncomfortable to start with as it always was.

MrsPhilipGlenister · 15/03/2007 22:50

Definitely the best of the three. It was slower than DS2 - about 8 hours from start to finish, but eminently manageable until I was about 9-10 cm dilated. Transition stage was not a lot of fun but at least third time around you know what's going on.

Hi my third was 6 years after number 2, but I am sure all are different. All three were the same with me around 4/5 hours in total. Third was intense only because gas and air was taken away from me, but other than that was ok, go for it, it's worth it..

|Really glad you asked this question! I am due on the 28th and am having lots of BHs, have lost mucus plug and am just waiting now (DS and DD were both early).

There was a thread about after pains, I think, and someone mentioned there that pre-labour and after pains get stronger in subsequent pregnancies so I am hoping my current 'is it happening now?' aches and pains will be worth it in the end!

me too 39 wks today had a few bits of the show, tons of contractions, nothing consistent though.
Baby is well down in pelvis
No 1 and 2 were very fast so I'm having a homebirth
Just tapping fingers waiting now...

bubblepop · 16/03/2007 14:49

hiya,my number 3 was very fast, only just made it to the hospital and was ready to push as soon as i got there! not a particularly good experience as baby was not in a good postition for birth.all i can say, is im so glad i set off for hospital when i did. number 4 however, was a beautiful textbook birth, but thats another story!
