Hi, I am 2.5 weeks post emcs. Today I noticed this on my otherwise perfect wound. I put sudocream on it that is why it is white but is this ok? I feel fine otherwise. Looks like top layer of skin came off around stitch.

Do you still have your stitches in? My stitches were out by day 3 I believe

babynelly2010 · 04/05/2017 14:25

Yes they are the kind that dissolve but they are still there at the end. Should they be gone by now?

I think it looks fine, just healing at different rates along the scar which. Is why there are still some patches of red. If your still in contact with your midwife maybe ask about the stitches that are still there and whether they should have dissolved by now. I'm not sure I would put Sudocrem on it. My midwife said I didn't need to put anything on it, just keep it clean. I took salt baths to help it heal and I'm almost 4 weeks post

Is it hotter where it's red? I think it does look like it might be the start of an infection. If it was me, I'd be getting it looked at - and having that last stitch on the end checked too. Hope you're recovering well otherwise.

Calling gp tomorrow. I have a medic friend who said the wound is probably ok but stitches are suspicious.
Thanks all.

The red patch in the middle looks a bit suspicious. I would get it checked. You don't need to put sudocrem or anything else on it, just give it plenty of air.

I wouldn't put sudocream on it. Use tea tree oil in warm water and clean with cotton wool twice a day and keep it dry. It will help it heal quicker.

It looks ok to me, but definitely see the GP if you're concerned.

I had dissolvable stitches and still had them visible in a couple of places at my 6 week check. Wasn't a problem at all.

I wouldn't put cream on it. Mine split open at either end as the stitches dissolved and a MW still told me it wasn't infected. It's worth checking though particularly if it hot.

Please just keep it clean and dry. Let air get to it when you can.

Thank you all. Went to gp, he cut off the knot, said it was all fine but gave fusidic acid I think it is called for extra caution.
