Being induced today

Can anyone give me successful stories on being induced? I'm due to get induced tonight at 38weeks because this baby boy is measuring small. I had a bad labour in 2012 with my daughter and after 14hours of labour with no pain relief I ended up PPH 😭 i really don't think I can do it all again 😣

😂😂 I've been cramping since I got it, she said my cervix was soft but not favourable

Following this in anticipation of Saturday! As il be where you are (not literally Hmm).

When you say cramping, how does it feel??

Apologies, I ask a lot of questions!

Heyitsholly · 19/03/2017 20:15

They didnt work for me im afraid. Then i was kept for 4 days as they had started the process but i wasnt priority enough to get the drip.
Just wanted to say good luck. And if it doesn't go to plan kick up a fuss. I regret being a pfb and too british to say anything

Millie2013 · 19/03/2017 20:53

I was induced, because DD was measuring v small and had reduced movements
She was almost 9lb. The induction was a doddle though :)

Funnyonion17 · 19/03/2017 21:00

2nd labours are usually a lot easier. Mine was. Try get on your feet walking during it, mine went to fast once i did that. My first was days!

drinkyourmilk · 19/03/2017 21:06

I've done nothing but tramp round the hospital. When we sat down at 7pm my husband fell asleep because he was "knackered ". Poor love Grin
I've sent him home. Nothing happening here but a poo and some cramps. (Like a strong period pain to pp who asked). I've got medication at 930pm then I'm going to try and catch some sleep just incase. Plus I've been informed they wake you at around 2am for obs and a trace Sad. So that will be me up for the rest of the night- ftm so not used to disturbance yet!
I'll race you Siobhaintori!

Good Luck Siobhaintori!!

drinkyourmilk · 21/03/2017 04:44

You win ! Grin
I had contractions last night for a few hours but they persuaded me to lay down to sleep and now they've gone. I'm so disappointed!

Sienna9522 · 21/03/2017 05:09

Nothing helpful to add but think I was in the minority. 12 days overdue I went in for induction. 24 hour propess inserted and by 13 days overdue no dilation, cervix still high and firm. 2nd 24 hour propess inserted and by 14 days overdue only half a cm dilated and cervix still unfavourable. By 15 days overdue no change to cervix but not priority for labour ward. By 16 days overdue they managed to break my waters with much difficulty given I wasn't even a cm dilated (talk of csection if water breaking wasn't successful) still no contractions. Synto drip commenced and by the time I was on the top dose after some hours, contractions finally started and I had her 16hours later, 17 days overdue! 5 days in hospital as my body decided it didn't want to respond to induction!

drinkyourmilk · 21/03/2017 07:48

Sienna at least that gives me some hope that they will do all they can. I really don't want a c section if possible - simply because it's going to be difficult to manage once dh is back at work.

Sienna9522 · 21/03/2017 12:25

They definitely will do all they can. They want to avoid c section as much as possible. It really is a last resort. The doctor wasn't convinced she could break my waters but she did. I had to beg for a c section as I started to lose my sanity in the end and they was very, very reluctant to agree and still encouraging me to have my waters broken until the end. I'm so glad they persuaded me, as it ended in a natural birth which I didn't believe could happen for me. I believe a c section is a lot longer to recover from.

Sienna9522 · 21/03/2017 12:30

Hopefully the pessarys work for you and it won't come to having waters broken/synto drip. They worked for several of my friends, I think I was just unlucky. Best of luck Flowers

drinkyourmilk · 22/03/2017 11:08

So despite 2 propess and 2 prostin pessaries my cervix hasn't opened enough to break waters. My trust won't put a drip up without waters breaking. So I'm now receiving steroid injections every 12 hours with an aim to section on Friday. I'm bitterly disappointed and have cried rivers. As I'm diabetic I am also now attached to a insulin drip for the next 48 hours as the steroids raise your sugars which isn't great for baby. Kicker is baby is happy and stable. Despite GD it could have been left another week and may have been more successful.

I'm trying to remember I still have a squishy newborn at the end.

drinkyourmilk · 22/03/2017 11:34

For those about to do an induction - midwives have reassured me this is atypical! Usually work and with less intervention. I just like to be special Grin

Siobhaintori · 22/03/2017 19:47

So he was born at 01.17am on the 21st and weighed 5lb 15oz. Healthy baby boy 💙 wasn't a bad labour at all after I got the epidural 😂 Thanks everyone who took the time to put my nerves at rest 💖 labour wasn't bad this time......but again I don't think I'd go back 😂😘
