Anyone had elcs at PRUH, farnborough?

I requested one at booking in and was never told it would be a problem. After the 20w scan my mw said she'd refer me to a senior midwife to discuss, then I'd have an appointment with a consultant at 36w.

I'm now 30 weeks and haven't had either of these appointments yet / I've seen her chase the referrals but I'm getting nervous about how late it's getting.

Had anyone else had an elcs at the pruh recently? What was the process? When did you get your appointments and how soon did you have a date booked in?

What are you reasons for wanting an elcs? If it is maternal request i think you need to start chasing these appointments persistently as getting quite late in the day. In my experience (not at this hospital) it was a long process and required a lot of meetings.

Thanks mimi - it started as a preference due to previous complications but I also have a low placenta that hasn't moved so I don't have much choice now! Will get on their case...

I did but due to breech baby that wasn't discovered until 36 weeks so a different situation. I had to see a consultant (not at pruh but at my local antenatal place) and when I refused to have baby turned I had another appointment at pruh for position scan and had to make a decision then about elcs or turning. Decided elcs and they phoned me about a week later with my date. I think you should give them a ring and see what's happening. Good luck.

Ah I see, if you have a medical need I wouldn't worry too much just yet as they will just need to book you in which often isn't done till 36 weeks so as long as you are seeing consultant before then should be ok.

My MW made an appointment for me to see an obstetrician at 36 weeks at the PRUH at the 32 week appointment. She just phoned up and it was done in 5 mins.

Thanks everyone - I've finally received an appt with the consultant midwife when I will be about 32 weeks so I will try and get to the bottom of it then. I am finding it quite stressful not really understanding the process but seems it's normal so will chill the hell out

Good luck op. Consultant midwife won't be able to make a decision or book you in so fingers crossed you'll be able to see the consultant asap after that.

I'm not sure in your case but in my experience consultant midwife is like a bit of a screening process to get through to the consultant. They can't make any decisions about cs so possibly a bit of a waste of time but they will be able to make that appointment with consultant for you if no one has already.
