I'm 36 weeks with dd3 and I remember the after pains with dd2 were hurrendous! This time I want to be prepared incase it's the same this time or worse, planning on breastfeeding so what's the strongest painkillers I will be able to use? :)

Possibly cocodamol although not sure if that's ok with breastfeeding?

I was in a lot of pain after dc1 but found having 2 x either ibuprofen or paracetamol every 2 hours really took the edge off.

I don't think codeine can be that bad if you're Breastfeeding, I didn't realise until day 2 in hospital that they were feeding me codeine, I just blindly took what I was given (as you do after no sleep for 4 days...) so it must be fairly routine

might not happen as i only got it with one of my two children. the nurse told me to take 2 paracetomol half an hour before breast feeding and it took the edge off the pain

I was prescribed diclofenac and told that was ok for breast feeding

I took codrydamol

I'm taking codrydamol and ibuprofen. I was told no cocodomol if breastfeeding. I have just had DC3 and I don't know if it is because of the tablets but the afterpains have not been as bad this time as they were after DC2.

Thanks ladies, I can't remember what I took last time I had some kind of super dooper painkiller off my mum but I didn't breastfeed so wasn't such a big deal, because I'm planning on doing so this time need to figure out what I can/can't take so I can be as prepared as possible... Don't want to end up having to walk to the Dr's days after the birth!
