What was your third labour like?

Probably been asked dozens of times! Just curious really.

Dc1 - 40 hours of induction / back to back hell. Forceps and episiotomy.

Dc2 - wonderously chilled out homebirth. Six hours. Laughing and relaxed until the last hour when I lost my shit during transition but I went from 4cm to giving birth in about 45 minutes.

My third labour was a home birth and it was similar to how you describe your labour with DC2. It was about 5 hours, transition a bit hairy, baby flew out in about five minutes with only three pushes. A really good experience.

First labours was 21 hours with forceps & episiotomy & second one was a normal labour & delivery lasting about 12 hours. I don't seem to do quick labours.

DD1 - hind waters went, mild contractions started about 9.30pm, ramped up then was 9cm on arrival at hospital at 1.30am - crash section under GA at 10cm due to severe foetal distress.
DD2 - full waters went gush after gush after gush. Strong contractions came on soon after - becoming very very strong and overwhelming towards the end - after an hour of pushing, born at home after 5 hrs contractions and 1 hr of pushing. No tearing.
DS - hind waters went 10.30pm, manageable contractions followed immediately - remaining quite mild/manageable. DS born in the pool at home 5am after 15 mins of pushing - I pushed too hard and fast as it was getting late and I was worried about DDs waking. Secobd degree tear, healed quickly without stitches.
I think my third labour was easier than my second, although longer, because only my hind waters went first and so the contractions were cushioned. I actually thought I wasnt making any progress as they never got really bad like they did with DD2.

Terrible. Cord prolapse followed by emergency C section. Healthy beautiful son, now 16, not affected in any way by near disaster.

Asleep, then contractions, hospital, gave birth all in less than 3 hours at 6am. Collected dd and ds from school at 3 pm.

I had such bad piles that I couldn't sit down for a week leading up to the birth, and giving birth gave such immediate relief that I literally sprung off the bed in disbelief at how fantastic my bottom end felt. The actual birth - waters broke then nothing so got put on the drip, born a few hours later.

First was induction and very difficult vacuum delivery. 2nd was induction but normal delivery with no need for anything more then gas and air. Was hoping for similar for 3rd but ended up with planned section due to really severe spd and other PGP issues (section was physio recommended following assessment of movement etc for labour).

Woke up at 3am needing a pee went to toilet and realised I could feel the head really low and then my body started bearing down that involuntary way.

Rushed straight to hospital panting and puffing as my body pushed to try delay it. In retrospect I should of called an ambulance but my waters hadn't gone and I wasn't actually feeling contractions.

Got to hospital and in side entrance straight to assessment room where I had him within 10minutes.

Just to add my first labour was an hour and ten mins. Second was 45mins. I won't be having anymore!

My third labour was an amazing experience, home birth with tens machine, 90 minutes from first contraction to birth. Very different from the first two, hoping to mimic it for my 4th!

Mine were all quick, so third not different in that respect. But was able to stay really collected and calm through it all. (First and second much more intense experiences which took up all my head space.)

First labour - 3 hours from first thing to delivery
Second labour 2 and a half hours from first twinge to delivery
Third labour - 2 and a half hours from first twinge to delivery.

All of them were relatively straightforward and without any intervention but my God the contractions were painful as I was contracting quickly.
Now pregnant with number four and hoping it will be the same as the others.

My 3rd was my easiest, quickest and most straight forward. 1st was alright, 2nd was awful. During labour with both 4 & 5 I had problems during the pushing stage, my contractions lost strength and I didn't feel the urge to push at all, I still remember during the last birth my dd's heart rate dropped so low there was a big panic and I basically just had to push without contractions.

Anyway, with my 3rd. Woke at 12am on the dot, went to the toilet and got back in bed, felt a trickle, stood up and my waters were leaking, contractions started soon after, got to hospital at 1.40am and she was born at 2.10am that's what you call bish bash bosh
she's now 5, a devil child and worse than the other 4 put together

My first and second were very like yours.

Third was back to back and came out face up on the water (apparently b2b usually turn). Very very tough and long birth. Last stage took hours more than anyone expected. It was a horrible labour and I knew it wasn't going to go well from the moment my contractions started. I knew what I was doing though which made a big difference. It was the first labour I feel I actually worked very bloody hard. The first happened to me. The second just went perfectly stage by stage without any thought but this one took everything I had physically and psychologically.

God I really need to get my head in the game. Hoping for a home birth again and will have DH, doula, mother in law and Mws here. Just going to start at home and see how it goes. It's hard not to have hopeful expectations it will be as "easy" as DC2 and must prepare myself for it not being as straightforward. I feel very on edge in a way I didn't feel at this stage with the previous two pregnancies - I've packed a bag for me and baby, and a bag of pjs and clothes for DCs in a just in case kind of way.

With my daughter (DC2) I was so galvanised about the labour because it had been so awful with DC1. This time around I just want it over and done with.

Redcrab I could have written your post about DC1 and DC2!!! DC 1-40 hours, episiotomy, pitocin, Dr elbow deep etc . DC 2, home birth, 4 hours, all pretty straight forward, born in the caul, 17 days pp had retained products. Dc3- another homebirth, 2 hours from first twinge to first nurse... no tears, and she was the heaviest
