good luck. So exciting.

17buggy · 19/02/2017 02:51

So he's here! Delivered by emergency section after failed ventouse and forceps but no surprise as he's a whopping 10.11lbs! Not going to lie it was a scary hour but he is just perfect and I wouldn't change anything for the world! Xxx

17buggy · 19/02/2017 02:53

Good luck for today! Sure u will be fine, the process was enough for me! Let us know when your bubba arrives xx

SuperBeagle · 19/02/2017 03:25

Good luck. Flowers

I was booked in for an induction on January 17, as I had gone significantly overdue with all previous pregnancies and the time overdue was increasing, so didn't want to get to 42 weeks and have to have an induction anyway. But arrived at the hospital at 5pm on the 17th and was already 80% effaced and 4cm with light (but regular) contractions, so they didn't induce me. DD was born on the morning of the 18th. Smile

I think the best thing to do is just think that the baby has to get here one way or another, and that you can't control the birth experience. I know many people who got so worked up about things going their way, that when they didn't, their experience was forever tainted by their unmatched expectations. Those who went in with very little in the way of expectations and who took things as they came were the ones who tended to have the better experience. So, think positive thoughts!

Congratulations Buggy - what a lovely, healthy weight. Enjoy your baby Flowers

Pessary in at 09:05.....now the wait begins Xx

I was induced with the pessary and had DS the next day. However, I was already 40+13, so he was fully baked...just couldn't be arsed to come out. Grin
I don't know how it works in other hospitals but I had my own room during the induction. I took an iPad and my mobile and made sure I had the chargers with me.
DH stayed with me for the night...and obviously the next day while I was having the baby. I know everyone mentions taking snacks,..and I did. There was food available on the ward 24/7, though. Hot food was at certain times, but there were two fridges filled with sandwiches and other snacks. Once I was in the delivery suite, they wouldn't give me any food in case of me needing a c-section. The midwive kindly got sandwiches and crisps for DH, though. Grin

I think having a birthing ball really helped and I spent most of the night bouncing my way through contractions. I did bother the midwives when I needed pain relief and made it quite clear that I didn't want a second pessary put in when the first one accidently came out. Luckily, the midwive agreed to examine me at that point and I was already 6cm dilated. (With me going "If it's not bloody doing anything, I don't want another put in! Give me a c-section and bloody well get him out!")

Good luck. (I'd say "enjoy" but it wasn't the least bit enjoyable until the epidural started to work.)

PeachBellini123 · 19/02/2017 19:12

MrsKBill - how are you getting on?

mum2be88 · 19/02/2017 19:21

I'm on my second propess now! Had the first one in for 26 hours and it did absolutely nothing! Feeling some twinges now so fingers crossed something is starting.

Tip if you're being induced - bring LOTS of reading material, iPad for TV/films etc, and earplugs! It is boring as hell!

userds6869 · 19/02/2017 19:31

Mum2be good luck. I went through this 4 weeks ago and it's all worth it in the end but remember the frustration all too well

MrsKBill · 19/02/2017 19:36

Pains galore!! Started at 12ish and just had paracetamol - not touching it xx

Ah, good luck. Don't be afraid to ask for something stronger.

mum2be88 · 19/02/2017 22:01

Thank you user - definitely trying to keep my eye on the prize, will be cuddling my little girl soon!

user1468957349 · 20/02/2017 09:14

I was induced by pessary 11.30am Saturday and contractions started at 5pm. By 9pm pains were really bad but only 2cm dilated so had pethidine. By 10.30pm I was fully dilated and she was born at 11.23pm. Be prepared - it can happen quickly once it gets going. Delivery was just Gas and Air though - much less pain than the contractions!

DappledThings · 20/02/2017 09:37

Same as some others, pessary kicked in very quickly. Was having contractions every 90 seconds after 3 hours. But after 6 hours hadn't started dilating. Pethidine was great for me as I needed to rest (this was all happening overnight) but somewhere between 2am and 8am I went from 0-10. Delivery 13.5 hours after pessary. Good luck!

PeachBellini123 · 20/02/2017 18:15

Mum2be and MrsKBill - hope you are both cuddling your babies now

MrsKBill · 20/02/2017 18:35

My induction failed! 😔 waiting to see the doctors, going to go home and wait a couple of days. Very disheartening 😔

17buggy · 20/02/2017 21:47

Oh no sorry to hear that MrsK and mum2. I'm still in hospital, after developing post-Dural puncture from the epidural. Every time I sit or stand up I get an almighty headache and its realived by laying down. Not ideal with a newborn and c section recovery but having an epidual blood patch tomorrow to hopefully stop the headaches. After 5 days in hospital I cannot wait to get home but know we are in the best place! And to think I was hoping for a straight forward water birth! So glad I didn't make a birth plan coz that would have well and truly gone out the window! Hope you get to meet your babies soon, seeing my chunky boy has made me forget about the rough time we've had! Xx

PeachBellini123 · 20/02/2017 22:29

Wishing all 3 of you the best.

Mum2be-if you can: try and get out walking. I swear this helped me along. Give yourself a treat as well xx

MrsKBill · 23/02/2017 08:09
