Aromatherapy in childbirth

Has anyone use aromatherapy oils /diffusers during childbirth to relax or ease pain? Would love to know what worked well for you?

Just a warning, check with your midwife first as obviously they will be exposed too and you're don't want them collapsing with low blood pressure or anything! I had clary sage burning to speed things up.
