What to wear

Im due end of April and a plus size girl

I was just wondering what practical wear i should buy for labour/before and after. What do people give birth in? After im persuming just loose comfy pants/PJ bottoms but not sure what i need as in night wear

What has everyone else got in mind?

I gave birth in my nightie. Once things got going I didn't even think about it. It was the middle of the night so that was what I had on.

Not much for labour. Many people wear a vest top / t shirt or nothing. Or a swimming top if a water birth. Comfy pj type clothes for after.
Soft bras/crop top to wear at night to hold the breast pads. Comfy pjs that crossover or unbutton for breastfeeding if you are doing that

I wore an old nightshirt. Long enough to cover my modesty (what there was left of it), but easy access! It went straight in the bin afterwards.

I gave birth in a big loose stretchy nightie that buttoned all the way down the front. Had it from M&S, going back a couple of years though.

Naked. I just suddenly felt the urge to all my clothes off when it kicked in properly.

I was induced so I wore comfy pjs for the first few hours then changed into an old nightie towards the end.

Tbh I could have been wearing anything or nothing and not have given two shiny shits, it was pretty much the last thing on my mind.

A nightie is best as gives access to the baby hole without having to take clothes on or off. But I gave birth naked because it was so damned hot in that room.

Take enough comfy bras in bigger sizes than you are. I went up about 4 cup sizes, and only had 1 spare bra with me. I thought it was enough, but didn't anticipate how leaky my boobs would be/how awful breastpads are at their job! (although I did have too much milk so I may not be the best guide!!)

Dark dressing gown, slippers/flipflops. You probably won't care what you are wearing once you are in labour! Soft pjs for after.

Thanks guys, didnt even think about room for breast pads. Already gone up 2 sizes :O. But good point! Im presuming dark dressing gown for leaking? again didn't even think about that.

Yes, dark for that reason. I took a cream dressing gown....mistake!!

Hospital gown both times for me.

A nighty for me too. Although you won't give a ff what you're wearing or who sees you at the time.

spare nightie for after delivery if you have an epidural you will still have catheter in back on the ward until epidural wears off fully
