i hope you dont mind i need some more advice-you gave me some about me having been told no more csections after 3,then told i could but maybe bowel damage...anyway,on monday went to see gp who said he wouldnt advice it as could mean dh off work looking after me for 6 months.was very upset but then someone said theyd had there 3rd csection horizontally because of this risk to bladder,bowel.is this common do you know?and why would they not have said?
sorry to keep asking you but i dont know who else!feel free to tell me to go away!

firstly. why would you need a 6 month recovery? is this presuming you would have major complications?

re 3rd c.s being horizontal..think your friend has had her wires crossed as all c.s , virtually all, are not a horizontal cut, in the bikini line , in the lower uterine segment..

the old way was the classical , vertical incision, which is though to be weaker when attempting VBAC

unless there is some real issue with position of the baby or somesuch, then the scar will be the usual LUSC cut....

can you get a second opinion from another obs /gynae...all due respect to your GP, but you need specialist advice here....

I totally agree!

I would get specialist pregnancy advice from my GP. That isn't her specialty. Just as a I would seek advice about my wiring in my house from the plumber.

I'm still at a loss as to why previous sections say you would have such a hard time. May there is something these doctors know that I don't? [puzzled emoticon]

Seek the advice of a specialist. Ask for a referal from your GP, and don't let him fob you off.

i was refered to consultant who said i could but be aware of complications so i saw gp about possible complications and effect it would have on me looking after 4 childre,.last csection resulted in tear to bladder due to scar tissue.

lulumama,i looked at link,i have seen before and the ladies have been great help.the link seems to back up what consultant said not doctor.

Kitty, I meant ask for a referral for a second opinion from another consultant. Go in with a variety of consultant options in case GP says "hmmm, I don't know who. We use this huys." and Then you can say, well look here are some options for you.

I think you have a right to a second opinion on the NHS. But, if he refuses and it's really impotant to you and obviously it is get a new GP. It's your life and if he can't be bothered to help you then you are better off with a new GP.

I just really don't understand why a previous laceration poses a problem now. Surely it is all healed. Maybe he is just anti-section and wants to save the NHS some money by convincing you not to return for another op. Or maybe there are valid concerns tha tI just don't understand -- because I am not a doctor.

When I was pregnant with my second I went to the GP and told him I didn't want to go to the local hospital. He was a real arse and told me I didn't have a choice. I was so upset. I left his office, got a new GP, and went to the hospital I wanted to go to. He is a complete arse and tell everyone about him. My point is you have a right to get some answers. And it isn't your fault if they can't be arsed.

great idea but where i live not many gps.infact you tend to know your gp and see them in pub etc!
there are other doctors at surgery i can see though.

What about paying to visit a consultant privately, just to have a 30 minute chat and get his opinion. Then if he thinks it's okay, go get knocked up and tell the NHS your pregnant and seeking free medical attention.

definitely worth a second opinion ! it is your health here, and the advice of a GP for something so important as whether you are able to safely have another child, is worth a second opinion !

i cant afford private!took hour and half to get to dentist today because all others have gone private.

well, i hope if you press the point you can see someone else, or a second consultant!
