DS born EMCS one month premature.
I have a memory of the obstetrician taking the vernix out of my open womb and spreading it all over DS.
Is this what might have happened?

No.

How would you even see past the screen??

They do give you some pretty good drugs though Grin

GoofyTheHero · 17/12/2016 19:41

I thought there was a screen in the way so you can't see your open womb?

Soubriquet · 17/12/2016 19:41

Actually you might not have imagined it

Some poster posted on here the other week about taking her fluids and wiping it around the nose and mouth of her baby.

Apparently it's good for c-section babies to get the healthy gut flora

Soubriquet · 17/12/2016 19:45

it's called seeding apparently

And it's not beneficial at all

WellErrr · 17/12/2016 19:45

It's not, Soub.

It's called 'seeding' and it's the new in-thing among lotus-birth types, but it has no proven benefits and can actually be very dangerous if the mother has strep b etc. A consultant certainly wouldn't be doing it.

WellErrr · 17/12/2016 19:45

Cross post! Grin

Soubriquet · 17/12/2016 19:47

I had to go and look to make sure I wasn't going nuts Grin

I was actually like Shock when I read that poster did it. I couldn't imagine doing it to my newborn baby....though it doesn't make sense really as they both had just come from there

Janey50 · 17/12/2016 19:50

I thought vernix was all over the skin of a new-born baby,so how would the obstetrician be able to take it out of your womb? Confused

WellErrr · 17/12/2016 19:52

Also true Janey.

Soubriquet · 17/12/2016 19:54

Maybe you saw something on seeding and hallucinated it whilst having a c-section?
