Hello everyone,

I am in the early stages of pregnancy and very excited!!! I have been reading about the different options available for childbirth and like the sound Birthing Centres. My closest one would be Crowborough (i live in brighton) This will be my first birth..is it a good idea to use a BC for your first birth? or would a good hospital be safer?
pls can anyone offer any reassurance, advice, past experiences?
Thks

my sister gave birth to two of her children in crowborough and had excellent experiences both times. She can't speak highly enough about it so, yes, go for it if you can

I had my two children there and am hoping to have my next in 5 weeks time there. It is lovely and I both my experiences have been great. You just need to bear in mind that if you have any complications during pregnancy you cannot go there as there are no doctors. This sometimes puts people off as if anything happens during labour you will be rushed to hosptial.

I was due to give birth there but went to 40+14 and had to be induced so went elsewhere and ended up with an ECS. But I was so excited and positive about Crowborough - had several antenatal appointments there. The staff were lovely and it would have been a wonderful place to recover. It's worth noting that if you do have to be transferred to hospital/be induced then CBC will take you for your recovery if they have room. I didn't take them up on this because DS was in special care but would have done otherwise.
