Did you have a,successful vbac? 25 wks and not had any discussion about this yet. Ds was elcs due to breech.

What made you go for vbac?
Did you go overdue/induced?
How long was your labour?
If not successful, at what stage did you get a c section?

Bit about me, 39, consultant lead care but should revert back to mw, ds was big at 9lb 1 at 38+6, and a massive head! He will be 18 months when I'm due.

My first was an elective section for breech too. I had both my next babies by vbac. I guess I wanted to try as I'd not laboured at all with the first. My second dc was a few days early and was a straightforward labour lasting about 12 hours. My third was late and I had a sweep to get it started. It was also fine and was about 6 hours. Having managed ok with labour with dc2 I didn't really even consider a section with dc3 although the doctors seemed quite keen to offer!

Thanks leemur, it does help. I feel woefully underinformed. I'd much prefer a straightforward vbac, esp with ds to look after. But everything I have read/heard makes me think the odds are stacked against me.

Eg my hospital won't let you go over due or be induced (both more likely with a florist labour I think) they won't let you labour longer than 8 hrs, and you're less like to be successful if you have not laboured and have had a big baby!

While I'd prefer vbac, I really really don't want emcs!

If you're on FB there is a Vbac support group there which will be immensely helpful.

Also, look at birth rights, it's an organisation that's set up to give women information about their rights around childbirth. The consultents can tell you what they want to all they want, ultimately its your body and birth and you have rights to consent and refuse things that they offer to you.
