Can i please just ask what peoples thoughts/exp are re homebirth after c section

Has anyone had a homebirth after a c section and if so could you share your thoughts and experiences ?
Any comments would be welcome-thanks

I had a homebirth after two previous cesareans 16 months ago. It was absolutely wonderful. It's not for everyone, but as long as you are well informed and understand the differing risks between hospital and home delivery I think it's well worth considering. Don't know whether you've found the vbachbac yahoo group yet but it's good for getting support if you're considering it.

I had a homebirth after 3 sections. Had to fight for it though.
I would say, don't live too far from the hospital though. We had a bit of a hooha with the baby rushed to hospital and it made me realise that if a rupture had accured then I was way to far away (bout 5 miles)
I researched every risk, every article and it really is miniscule so was ok about it. Just remember though, you can change your mind up to when the baby pops out so approach it one step at a time.

I planned to have a homebirth after a section and was going all ahead until I went overdue (nearly 43 weeks!) and then decided to have my waters broken in hopsital as the risks were increasing.

Still tried to ave a waterbirth at hospital, but after ages and loads of pushing ended up with another section.

If you're considering it, my advice would be to try to find a consultant who is willing to discuss your notes from your first section:

e.g.

• understand what the presenting problems were - if it was e.g. breech, then there is less likelihood of the same thing occurring as e.g. a 'kinky pelvis' (which is what we ended up putting my sections down to!)
• ask lots about what your options are, and make sure you understand the REAL % risks (not the scaremongering they will likely throw at you).

Well I planned one. Had an independent midwife so that I didn't have to argue with anybody! But then I had grade IV placenta praevia, haemorrhage, emcs at 34 weeks.

I planned a homebirth first time as well, and ended up with cs for footling breech. Next time I'm planning a cs and fulling expecting a homebirth.
