Stiches not healing

Hi,
I had my DD 16 days ago and my stiches dont seem to be healing. Its still very sore to sit on and while standing it throbs really bad. Today I also noticed that when I went for a wee and wiped myself lots of hair was on the tissue paper. Ive looked and it seems that one side in between my legs is really weepy and red and the hair is coming away. Anyone know what this could be and how much longer it will hurt for.

blimey - ring your midwife.

recognise that heavy throbbing feeling, but shouldnt be weeping imo. Yes get them seen to. (brings back memories of drying mine with hairdryer on cool setting)

sounds like infected stitches. Happened to me. Get antibiotics NOW, and they will clear up. And get some painkillers too while you're about it.

Salt in bathwater is good too. Research apparently says it doesn't work, but it did for me. Also don't use soap or bubblebath anywhere near your bits until you've healed fully.

But yes, agree with other posters, this doesn't sound okay. Phone midwife/GP and get it seen to, now, rather than Monday.

hi, well i havent had time to do anything about them. I bought lavender oil for the bath which has helped a bit and they arent so painful. The midwife did look at them and said they werent infected but very tight. That was before the one side started weeping. Its really hard to describe but its not the stiches that are weeping but (TMI)from the inside of my leg to where the first set of lips are its the skin, it looks as if it has sores on.

As the midwife has seen them I presume that they must generally be OK. Mine were hideous after DD for about 6 weeks. Every time I went for a wee it was as though I passed acid. The burning was awful and I had to adopt a position that would make you laugh to stop the wee hitting the sore bit! If you are still worried about them in a day or two then get some more advice from the midwife.

I was told by my midwife to shower my bits clean after every time I went to the toilet and then dry with a hairdryer on cool setting. If they are already infected it can't do any harm anyway. I would however echo motherinferior and see the doctor

hi kbaby i also had the same problem as you, the only way i could sit down was on a rubber ring, the one you use for swimming, because it took the pressure off. please do go back to your GP because it doesnt seem right.

thanks i just called my mw, as the sticjes are still there after 22 days and I thought they wouldve disolved by now. She told me that the soreness and the stitches will take 6 weeks to heal. I was expecting 14 days!!

Hi - just wanted to add that if you have soreness much longer after the 6 weeks, make sure you see the doctor. My stitches healed too tightly with too much sensitive scar tissue and sex was v.painful ... eventually after about 5 months I went to the doctors and got referred for laser surgery to zap it all off. Since then, no probs at all. But wish I hadn't left it so long!
