Home birth before 38 weeks?

I had preeclampsia with DD and was induced (to speed keep things moving) when in early stages of labour at 36 weeks.

This pregnancy I've seen a consultant and been given 3 scenarios.
1 - no PE, home birth.
2 - early signs of PE, induction at 40 weeks.
3 - full blown PE, induction at 37 weeks.
We also discussed the fact that as I was in spontaneous labour at 36 weeks last time, I may go early again. Consultant said that at 36 weeks they wouldn't intervene to try and stop labour.

However midwife (who is consistently rubbish, same one as last pregnancy, no idea of my history or who I am at today's appointment) told me today that should I go into labour before 38 weeks, even with no PE signs, I'd have to give birth in hospital. Is that correct?

Are you I Scotland? The guidelines here are that you go 'on call' for your home birth at 38w. Any earlier and you will be asked to go to hospital. This us regardless of your birth history. In EnglandI believe you go on call at 37w.

I'm planning a HB too, I'm 36 weeks at the moment and have been told I can safely deliver at home from 37 weeks, but if I were to go into labour this week, I would be advised to go to the hospital instead. Maybe it depends on your area and how well established your home birth services are?

I am in Scotland yes. Bugger absolutely gutted.

I have no idea what the guidelines are but if you go into labour before 37 weeks, you really should go to hospital.
There are too many risks to the newborn.

Of course, at 36 weeks having had one before I'd absolutely go in, I'm more thinking that 37 weeks is a shame to be off the table. I don't expect to go as early as last time (I hope not at least) but I'd be sad if I made I to "term" and wasn't allowed to deliver at home. I know it's only a week but there's still a chance it'll be then.

Honestly it's our last baby and I had a terrible time with the end of the last pregnancy so I'm just feeling emotional that I have a 1/4 chance of getting the birth I want.

I'm in Scotland and had my Homebirth at 37+4. Full term is classed from 37 weeks.

Ickle the midwife literally said that they class 37 as full term but was still adamant that any time before 38 weeks I'd have to go into hospital don't get it at all.

Oh no Evans'smy midwives were great and initially were told they can only attend 38 weeks onwards , they pushed back and said they will attend 37 onwards. DS was absolutely fine and no issues. Hope all goes well and dates work out
