I had my baby 3wks ago and am not breastfeeding. My bleeding seems to have stopped now (had a csection) am keep thinking my boobs have stopped leaking but then they start again.

This weekend they have only leaked twice..once when I was laughing my head off at a family do and again last night when my cat was sat on my chest purring !!?? err does a purring cat stimulate my hormones? (it is one of my fav noises but have never had any urge to feed her! lol!)

Is milk released according to moods? Last week I was sitting with my baby and toddler, both asleep on me and was feeling v content and really lucky and my boobs started leaking everywhere.

Is this all normal or am I a total wierdo? lol!

It's very embarrasing when they start leaking whne you are in flagrante

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/02/2007 20:50

Very very normal.

when i was in hospital after ds2, I kept getting let down from another woman's baby crying - nobody else's, just hers[shock

Biglips · 05/02/2007 20:53

yep all normal....my dp used to tease me and he made them leak!!!

PMSL

Seriously, when I was pregnant, whenever the cat purred I would squirt milk (I have lots and have since month 6 of pregnancy). The poor cat got hit in the face more than once. Worse still is the sound of the cat washing, that really sets them off.

I AM breastfeeding and it's even worse! If I think about my daughter for even a second, I feel this painful glug and look down to see very noticeable round circle forming. Breastpads don't do the job, and I've taken to stuffing my bra with towelling nappy liners from my daughter's reusable nappies because they at least last an hour!

Entirely normal I'm afraid. Perhaps it'll tail off once your periods return (mine haven't yet and my GP reckons when they do things will get easier, personally I think she just wants me to sod off and not bother her for a few months

Strange, I breastfed for 7 months and never once did I leak albeit over-fullness or something else setting them off.
wierd how were all different isnt it!

Hey Xenabelly

Read my post from yesterday if you are still feeling that your boobs are weird! I think I can claim the prize to the oddest lactation of the week this week!

I'm currently 39+2 had my first bit of milk appear yesterday... while reading this thread !

I would imagine a warm snuggly thing on your chest soon after childbirth would be interpreted by your body as a baby that needs feeding - hence the milk production. Might be worth investing in breast pads for a few weeks until it stops.

My friend had her first baby just over 3 years ago and her let down reflex was triggered by Michelle McManus and whatever that song was . I was fortunate enough never to witness this, although she now has another baby maybe I should suprise her with a copy of it and see if it still works
