Bath time

Our 3month old has been in a routine of bath bottle bed since day one. Loves the bath laughing and splashing but screams the moment you take him out, this continues through drying and dressing untill he has his bottle. I've tried heating the bathroom and feeding before bath incase he hungry but nothing works. He then falls a sleep before his bottle, naps then wakes up wanting his bottle. Any ideas?

How is he falling asleep whilst you're drying and dressing him? How long are you taking to do this?

Give him his bottle before the bath?

He falls a sleep once dressed before his bottle not whilst I'm dressing him. I've tried the bottle before bath.

Bottle ASAP after bath, just get a nappy on quickly?

Yes we have tried that also , think he seems to just be so un happy that we have taken him out of the bath then the screaming wears him out.

Dd2 used to be like this, she's 15months now and still hates coming out of the bath although she doesn't cry like she used to. There wasn't anything we could do apart from getting her dry and dressed as quickly as possible then get her on the boob (or bottle in your case). It was just one of those things.

Can you bring bath time forward by say 15 mins? Try to offset any exhaustion. Daft question as well but are you taking up the bottle with you when you go up for the bath? Or faffing round making it when he's dressed and that's his window for falling asleep?

DC1 is 2.5 years old and still cries when we take him out of the bath if it's bedtime. His bath makes him tired so he struggles to tolerate the change in temperature and being wriggled into his pjs. U could try bathing earlier in the day when baby isn't tired and see if that goes smoother.

I'd bring the bath time forward too. He may just be reaching his limit tired wise .

Will he dream feed the bottle?
I'd talk to him and keep him awake til he's had his bottle tbh

Also suggestion to bring bath time forward - what time do you bath? Other than that, it's a phase! I remember DS1 screaming whenever we took him out the bath at the same age and we frantically looked for reasons. Then he just stopped and we moved on to the next thing to worry about! It feels like a lifetime when you're dealing with these things but in a month it'll be something else

Thank you for your replies. I bath at 6.30 at the moment tried 6pm last night and he still did the same bless him it must just be exhaustion. I'm going to try bathing after his last nap and see how we go: he's fine after a bath in a morning but didn't want to change his nightly routine

Can't you just bath in the morning or afternoon?

Yes I could whilst I'm off work but once I return I wouldn't be able to continue with that routine, he has just been use to a bath before bed

He's 3 months. He won't mind change honestly.

You don't need to Bath every day. Couple times week is fine.
I would bath in morning if I was you. Doesn't matter that you can't do that when go back to work everything will be changing then anyway.

I agree a bath every day isn't necessary. At 3 months it's generally fine to make changes, they are more flexible than we give them credit for. Could you switch to every other day bathing or something? At least then you won't have to endure the crying every evening.

My dd is nearly 3. Baths still make her tired even now but she would always drop off after a bath. If you can do it sooner it's worth a try. The change when you go back to work is something you can deal with nearer the time as his routine will be different by then anyway as he changes

We haven't changed the bath time but let him nap a bit later than usual and has worked , he still is warn out after his bath but manages the full bottle and still sleeps through , he was just obviously worn out.

Bathing every day is a bit much- they don't get very dirty at that age and you can do more harm than good with washing. Try to break up that routine a bit, as it's not working for him.

The routine is working fine for him now as my previous post says he was tired, Both my Kids have had baths every night and have been fine skin wise and both have no problems sleeping
