Anyone else in pre-labour limbo?

Quodlibet · 29/06/2016 09:33

I am and it's a bit dull. Anyone else in the same limbo and want to share a moan?

Had a night of contractions on Saturday night (37 weeks) and frantically scrabbled to get bag ready, toddler looked after, baby stuff down from loft only for it to all wear off again. Another night of contractions on Monday night but again nothing in daytime.

I am knackered now, finding it hard to do anything active (or even walk far) and slightly dismayed that this could go on for weeks... Feeling very 'done' with pregnancy even though I am still 2.5 weeks off 'full term'. And equally, pretty unprepared still for birth or a newborn!

I'm still in limbo and getting quite grumpy! Woken up this morning with lower back ache and what feels like mild contractions every 15 mins or so, so maybe something is finally happening. It's hard to get my hopes up after so many false starts though.

I'll join :)

38 weeks and getting on off contractions and pressure especially when walking, for the last few days. Period pain and backache intermittently as well.

Not holding my hopes up though as I had hours of stop start contractions every night with dd2 for 2 weeks. Both her and dd1 were a week late.

Very fed up though and just feel TIRED

mellmumma · 14/07/2016 15:11

Def had some mucus plug come away today! Things are finally moving in the right direction! X

Quodlibet · 14/07/2016 20:41

Ooh exciting mellmumma!
I was so convinced this one would be 2 weeks early - I can't actually believe i am still pregnant! Have done sex and pineapple today, but no dice so far....

Ive had bits of mucous plug the last few days as well. I'm not holding out too much hope though as it went on for at least a week before dd2 was born! Don't remember seeing it with dd1 though

39+2 today and absolutely nothing. No cramps, nothing. Baby has been head down forever and a day, but still not engaged (midwife just said he/she's "lower" than last week). Midwife is confident she'll be seeing me next Friday for 40+1. No sweeps until 41 weeks here, but midwife said not to be too concerned about that as sweeps are only successful about 25% of the time anyway.

So, going to Sydney with my friend tomorrow. We're going to do the Bondi-Bronte coastal walk and then stuff ourself with donuts at Doughnut Time. Looking forward to it, so knowing my lucky, baby will probably decide to come and interrupt my plans. Wink

38+6 here and feeling fed up too. Fed up of trying to sleep but not being able to get comfy.
Acid seems to have got worse and seem to have backache on and off and light cramps. Day before yesterday I had a braxton that was so uncomfortable I ended up on all fours until it went. It wasnt painful just my lower torso felt so tight I didnt know what to do with myself. Thought it might continue but nope only back ache.
Probably regret saying this but I'm bored too! I finished work about 5 weeks ago due to SPD and a very manual job (signed off, maternity started at 36 weeks). Getting to the point where I feel nervous going out on my own incase something happens quickly so practically housebound now. Sad

dramalamma · 16/07/2016 06:46

40+2 here - have had cramps and tightenings for over two weeks - was 3 cm dilated and had a lovely "bloody show" over a week ago but had another appointment yesterday and was exactly the same! So frustrating and am getting increasingly annoyed with the well meaning texts of "any news?" I'll tell you when anything happens - until then leave me alone!! Even had 4 midwives saying the same to me yesterday - "didn't think we'd be seeing you this week"...... Nope, me neither! Have now decided I'm not going to expect anything to happen until 42 weeks and just try and get on with normal life with spd pain, a massive belly and extreme tiredness Hope some of you earlier ones are nursing babies now actually don't tell me if you're not as I might cry!

Due date over here - was up from 4 til 6.30 with really painful contractions all down the front of my legs and back, as baby had turned round into a funny position. And then it stopped again! Aghhhghhgh.

38+5 here and up from 5.30 with backache and top of bump pain/contractions every 15 minutes. Which stopped just when my alarm went off at 7 Angry

mellmumma · 18/07/2016 09:31

Due date tomorrow! Still not a thing!

And what a lovely time for a heatwave.....Hmm

Quodlibet · 18/07/2016 19:30

Cross your fingers for me - had mucous plug go this morning, then midwife did sweep this pm at 40+2 and said cervix is very ready - 2cm dilated. Mild contractions happening...

SusanAndBinkyRideForth · 18/07/2016 20:46

Fingers crossed for you :)

SusanAndBinkyRideForth · 18/07/2016 22:29

Any news Quodlibet?

Quodlibet · 19/07/2016 21:10

Yes! Baby arrived this morning after about 7hrs of proper labour. We are thrilled with him. Birth all pretty straightforward, just g&a, and despite the INCREDIBLE heat I am feeling remarkably good!

Yay! Congratulations Flowers

mellmumma · 19/07/2016 23:00

Congratulations!! I have my sweep tomorrow 40+1... Fingers crossed for similar story to yours! X

MaverickSnoopy · 20/07/2016 05:22

Congratulations Quodlibet!

DC2 arrived last Thursday in the end after being induced. Labour was 4 hours from that point. No pain relief as it was all too quick and g&a made me vomit. Completely in love now.

Quodlibet · 20/07/2016 05:34

Congrats Maverick! Wow 4 hrs is quick!

Whinge time:
I've had it. I'm so over pregnancy and reflux heartburn, SPD, waddling, knackeredness, and THE HEAT.Angry

Come ON! I'm 39 weeks now .... anytime now would be fine. I'm so bloody grumpy and lethargic and my house is becoming a shit tip around me, and yet I just CBA to do anything about it.

The toddler is so clingy and noone apart from me is allowed to do anything for her or even look at her. The 5 year old has serious end-of-termitis and is doubley grumpy, and next time they start fighting I might just let them crack on and sort it between themselves.

And mostly I'm fed up of sodding contractions waking me at 5am every morning, and now also keeping me awake until midnight.

So grrrrr

mellmumma · 20/07/2016 22:39

Awww at least those pains might be doing some of the pre labour hard work?! I can totally relate to not being arsed to do anything. Well past the long walk stage now!

I had my 40+1 sweep today, MW says I am 1cm got one finger all the way in even though cervix is still long it is stretchy.

Head is down and fully engaged.

I've been so uncomfortable all day, lower back ache and can't do anything but lay in the recovery position on the bed in my pregnancy pillow.... Even the ball is uncomfortable!

Hoping that all the aches and twinges and the fact that something has been happening mean that we don't have too long to wait, but not expecting anything before the weekend at this rate.

Booked in for second sweep 41 weeks.

Keep going ladies! X

Hey girls- hope I'm welcome Smile
40 + 5 today getting cramps and tightenings, lost bloody show earlier but the pain is still bearable at the minute. Am not going down for another friggin false alarm. Had a sweep today and booked in for induction next week! Been loosing bloody show since sweep and been told I'm 2cm thank god. Could have wrote these posts myself, pre labour limbo sucks! I got told I was in the latent phase of labour 5 weeks ago!! Confused FTM very confusing. Sending labour vibes to everyone and congrats to those who've finally popped!! 💕

mellmumma · 22/07/2016 09:27

Hello dear! Glad your cramp have got you to 2cm! When is your 2nd sweep and induction booked for? Fingers crossed you get you baby before then!

goblins · 22/07/2016 14:53

Hi everybody! I'm Amber. I'm a long-time lurker but desperation has finally driven me to post. 40+2 here with my second set of di-di twins. I had a disastrous induction at 38+2 with the first set so I'm keen not to go down that route again unless the little darlings seem unhappy in their briny home, which at the moment they are not - I'm being monitored very closely by an incredible team of professionals and the little ones are doing just fine.

But HOLY MOTHER OF GOD how is it even POSSIBLE to go overdue with double the amount of baby?! I am 5'1". Surely there shouldn't even be room.

I don't even know if I'm in pre-labour hell yet. I seem to spend half the night contracting some nights, and nothing on others. My cervix is doing nothing.

mellmumma · 23/07/2016 18:22

Welcome to the thread Amber! Wow twins how exciting! But can't imagine how uncomfortable you must be!! I hope they don't keep you waiting too much longer!'

So update here, ever since my sweep on Tuesday I have lost lots more mucus plug and been having lower back ache, period pains and twinges that make me go ooooh but nothing remotely patterened, if anything very constant!

But weirdly everything seems to calm down at night and I've been sleeping right through. On my side in bed is definitely the comfiest place for me right now, which I'm worried isn't helping things progress as I spend most of my day there! Plus I am just so wiped, even after 8 hours sleep last night I have still just had a 4 hour nap this afternoon! Just before that I had the most painful twinges so far that I needed to move onto all fours, but then... Nothing. Guessing this is what Braxton Hicks and pre labour feel like.

Then after a day of not a lot of changes and feeling a bit more normal I'm heading out for a family bbq this evening. Just showered and had a huge bloody show... Wopppeee!! Like the mucus I have been seeing but all dark brown and bloody... The highs and lows of pre-labour hey!

I'm at the point now (40+4) where if I get the natural labour I want and don't get induced next week I'll just be so pleased. Come on body & baby... You can do it!!
