Am in hospital waiting to be induced. There's a women in the bed next to me crying and wailing. Think she might be waiting for a bed to come up. Poor woman.

It's making me scared!

Does anyone have any positive stories whilst I wait please?

You can do this. They do offer pain relief. Don't forget your breathing. Every contraction is one step closer to meeting your baby.

I am the world's biggest wimp and I got through it It's not the most fun way to spend your time but it is SO worth it in the end. and good luck!

Its painful, theres no doubt about it, just prepare yourself for the worst pain in your life, somehow i found this easier. Have you ever had an abcess where its so painful you cry? well childbirth is like that but the pain is down below.

Silly thing is this is my second, I found the first so awful and hearing the lady is just bringing it all back.

It's stupid but I feel like I shouldn't take pain relief because I didn't with my first (apart from gas and air). If there was no stigma / adverse effects I would have an epidural in a shot.

You've already done it once.

Watching someone else in distress and pain is often more difficult to deal with than when you are experiencing it yourself. Her experience will be different from yours. Good luck and make sure you understand what is going to happen during the induction.

If you want an epidural then ask for one!

Don't worry about stigma, if u want an epidural then have one! They are great and can make giving birth a lot more relaxed and enjoyable.

Crossed with your update OP. Induced labour is more painful than a spontaneous one. No one will think any less of you for requesting an epidural. Was your first spontaneous?

If there is pain relief and you want it take it - no medals for no drugs!
Fwiw my second birth was much better than my first - it was as if my body realised what to do!!
Don't worry about other people crying Etc some people handle pain differently and react differently. You should have seen me cry with a wasp sting but no problem having dc2!
You can do it and will soon have a beautiful baby!

Each labour is completely different. Your second could be much easier or quicker. (Mine was!)
Don't feel you need to tough it out. If you want more pain relief then shout until you get it!
I was like the woman in the bed with my second. I was very loud. Because she was born in less than an hour and it was intense. But fine.

First was spontaneous after a sweep, was a long labour but nothing particularly traumatic. I imagined I had a higher pain threshold than I clearly did.
