What to take for baby's bedtime

My baby is due end of July. I know it could be very hot. What do newborns sleep in when it's really hot? I've got no idea as DD wasn't newborn in summer! Starting to pack hospital bag and no idea what to take for baby to sleep in!

Dd was born in a country in the med in summer and they still wanted her in vests and sleep suits. I'd take both.

I've always still brought vest and sleep suit and used blankets. 2 of mine were born in summer and 1 in winter. The hospital wards are so warm anyway I didn't find the season made that much difference while in hospital, only once you get them home

It was really hot when dd was born she just had a sleepysuit and a light cotton sheet tucked completely in her Moses.

At about 3 months she went into grow bag different togs for warm, cold nights and would have either a long sleeve vest or suit underneath.

That's a good point I did have lighter blankets with dd and when she was home I relaxed a bit and did have her in shortie rompers when it was very hot.

I have a July born DD and it was unseasonably warm (Scotland). Hospital was sweltering, but I can't remember what she was in for the night we were in (her first photos she's naked with mitts on!), but once we were home she slept in short sleeve vests, socks and had a cellular blanket too. They really don't need to be super wrapped up inside, particularly when it's warm.
Oh, and take a fan for yourself if you can. Our ward had run out.

DD was born in August, and it was boiling in the hospital. We were in for 6 days. During the day, I tended to keep her in just a short sleeved vest and popped a light cellular blanket over her if I thought she needed it or she fell asleep. At night, I put a long sleeved sleep suit over the vest so it didn't matter too much if she wriggled out from under the blanket.

Can you get one if those giant muslin things? Ds was a week old in that ridiculous heatwave last year and I found swaddling him in that was good. I think he just had a vest underneath it, but it was insanely hot for the uk!

DS2 was born 5wks ago when it was really hot and in the hospital it was sweltering, he slept in a vest with a thin cotton blanket.
When we got home to a more normal temp house he's been sleeping in a sleepsuit with a cellular blanket. He's a rather warm baby though and my friends baby needs an additional layer in the same conditions. Check how warm they are on their back rather than their hands & feet.

DD born June last year, for the first 24 hours they wrap them up like eskimos no matter what temp it is in the hospital as they aren't quite able to regulate their body temperature in the first 24 hours. DD was in a short sleeved vest and babygrow. After a few days we opted for footless rompers or just vests as had that heatwave.
