naturally flipping a breech baby...!

Am almost 31 weeks and have been told baby is breech. Bum well and truly in the pelvis, their back curled round on my left and head to the right.

Has anyone successfully flipped a breech baby and how did you do it?!

Any tips gratefully received.

Someone i worked with had theirs flipped via acupressure and Chinese herbal something being burnt.

I was sceptical that it would work, but her baby did turn. whether it was cause or coincidence though I wouldn't like to say.

I had acupuncture and moxibustion, which is the something being burnt Standout. My baby didn't turn, but blimey, I used to feel her lurching about something shocking after the treatment so I reckon there's got to be something in it. The other thing I tried was sitting on the sofa, sort of on all fours, but with my hands on the floor. (But, like I said, no joy!)

DD flipped at 38 weeks after I used all the suggestions on the spinning babies website.
Whether she would have turned herself, I have no idea! It was a couple of days before her presentation scan (pre arrangement for CS).

Seems a bit time commitment with ds, a ft job & 3 hour commute each day!

Hi mindful! Your baby is in the exact same position as my son was! Bum actually engaged in my pelvis and as he'd not moved since 28 weeks despite moxibustion and all the inversions and tilts from spinning babies I I just knew he wouldn't turn. Failed ECV too!

I ended up with an ELCS which was absolutely fine in the end.

I'm still not convinced this baby is head down either, it feels like she's doing cartwheels, unlike my son who was evidently completely wedged.

Handstands in the swimming pool might work! That was one thing I never actually got round to trying.

Its worth remembering that at 31 weeks something like 20% of babies are breech but by term only 3-4% are so the chances are that your baby will turn naturally sometime in the next few weeks.

The easiest way to help this is by spending some time crawling around on all fours as this opens up the whole uterus and the muscles relax making it easier for baby to swim around.

Both my babies were breech at this stage. One was turned by ECV at 37 weeks and the other turned naturally by the 34 week appointment. In hindsight I would probably have relaxed about DC1 and had an ELCS as the ECV doesn't have a great record. Now he's nearly 6 it makes no difference whatsoever how he was born.

Thx everyone. Sounds encouraging! Have been doing inversions and seeing the osteopath. Trying to convince DH of the merits of Rebozo sifting. He seems up for it!

Also need to make time for some swimming..... Incl handstands and the like !

Have been cheered by the fact my Sis in law baby has now turned .... There is still time!!

I had to have lots of extra scans with dd and she was resolutely breech at every one, bum down toes on her forehead! She turned in between the 36 and 37 week scans (she also grew a tiny bit so I went from considering manual turning/section or induction for being small to mw led!). I was just doing some shopping when she turned. It was very uncomfortable and
I went from not being able to breathe very well to needing to wee desperately.

Have you had a baby before OP? I only ask to see if you know whether you have a heart shaped uterus?

If you do, chances are baby will stay put.

This time.... I definitely have a problem with my left hip which may not help. Seeing an osteopath but only so much that can do.

Bump is weird today..,, what does baby turning feel like? Rock hard. Pressure in a single spot. Fluttering. Odd feelings. Can't describe....

Mine turned after I spent an afternoon on all fours digging in the garden! Just waiting (impatiently) for labour to start now.

Mine flipped to a breech near the end. I didn't feel it! Midwives couldn't tell either without ultrasound.

I got DS1 to turn by spending ages on my hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor. I actually felt him flip round, it was quite a disconcerting feeling.

Don't panic. Breech DD turned the right way around at about 38 weeks. I did precisely nothing to make it happen.

I felt her flip too, I was at the deli counter in Sainsbury's at the time and had to stifle a squeak as it was an odd sensation.

Woo hoo. Went in on Friday to see MW. Was told baby was oblique and not a good position.... Went in yesterday to see the obs and have a scan - baby WA ahead down! Woo hoo

Now just to keep her there......
