hello

i am 38 weeks pregnant and due a c section on friday with my 2nd child. last night I could not sleep or get comfortable as the cramping/ strong bh were really uncomfortable. There were also pains down below as the head is now 3/5 engaged, This happened all night and then went away in after breakfast. I went to see the midwife and she said that these were probable contraction to move the head down to 3/5 into the pelvis. This evening I am getting similar feelings and was just wondering what are the real signs of labour. I had a c section on the 1st pregnancy so do not know what to expect or look out for. Midwife said if anything happens earlier then tell the hospital. This is going to be a stressful week as I have my mothers funeral on wednesday and c section friday.

Look forward to hearing your views.

Thanks

Foxy

i would call the labour ward , just to be sure.....especially if baby is engaging and you are having contractions

you do get false labour , but " real' contractions do not stop, the time between them diminishes, they get stronger and more intense and are often accompanied by backache.

if you are in doubt, call the midwife

i am sorry to hear about your mum.

how sad about your mum too, foxy - what a difficult time for you!

Agree with lulumama - definitely worth speaking to the midwife. If necessary you can go in and be monitored and they can tell whether or not you are contracting.

All the best x x x
