show or plug and baths

Hello,
Im a bit confused and was hoping someone may know the answer.

In my book it says that a show is clear mucous a bit like egg white and can proceed labour by 3 weeks, and that the plug is mucous but is red from blood etc and proceeds labour by 24-48hrs.

However on another thread someone has said that they lost the show and were advised not to have a bath or anything until labour. I cant find anything in any books that mention this and ive been having baths and going swimming and had my show 10 days ago.
Has anyone else been given this advice?

A show is a thick mucusy white, pink or slightly red.... varies !
It can come in stages and be as early as 3 weeks before labour and sometimes you only lose it in labour.
It's a sign that things are "moving" down there.
You can take a bath... you can even take a bath if your waters have gone. And you can even have sex !!!

the show and the plug are just 2 names for the same thing. surely

yes - I suspect plug might be US.

A show and mucous are two words for the same- baths and sex safe and can be bloody so dont worry all is well x

Also, not everyone sees theirs - it can fall out when you're going to the toilet, or not until you're actually in hospital in labour.

With DS mine just looked like a blog of discharge, think it happened a few days before I gave birth.

You can definitely take a bath - you are often encouraged to have a bath during labour to help manage contractions, which wouldn't be advisable if you shouldn't do it after losing the show/plug.

I had show for days, loads of it. It was very bloody and there was a lot more than I was expecting - it came after a stretch and sweep and was like discharge but heavy enough. I asked about having a bath and as above, it was encouraged. Was told not to put anything in it though - just clear water.
Show started on Thurs and I delivered Monday pm.
