Elective c-sec - best to wait til labour naturally starts?

Hi all - I've got a 'date' booked in for my elective c-section as baby is breech...the date is a few weeks ahead of 'my' dates (scan dates I feel are at leasy week out.) Is it best to wait for natural labour to start or just go in on the date i'm told? Thanks :)

Yes I concur simon. I didn't think there'd be any useful research looking at the relative likelihood of breathing difficulties between ELCS and EMCS babies, which is why I didn't think OP should've been told labour before a section would be better for breathing. We know babies born after some labour are less likely to have breathing difficulties, but since that group primarily comprises VB babies and OP isn't having a VB, it's not relevant here.

None of this is to say there aren't other things to consider too, of course. Having had an EMCS myself, with a baby who had breathing difficulties as it happens, I'd say you don't want to be recovering from both labour and abdominal surgery if it can be avoided.
