elcs tomorrow terrified

My elcs is booked for tomorrow at 0730 and it just seems Totally surreal but I am terrified as never really been to hospital for anything and not sure how high my tolerance of pain will be

Please try not to worry, mine was all nice and calm and quite a pleasant experience! Pain wise, the anaesthetic is just a bit uncomfortable and afterwards they keep you nicely dosed up with pain relief so it's all quite manageable in most cases. I would have another elcs without hesitation. Good luck! And remember the lovely end result of course!

I've had two elcs and I would not hesitate to choose another one if I were to have a third. You'll be fine, it is an amazing experience.

I agree with the previous posters. My elcs was such a nice experience compared to my first birth. I know the thought of it is daunting but you'll be fine.

I'd make sure you take a book/some magazines though! I had to be in for 7am for mine, didn't end up being taken for my section until 4pm as I was the last planned section on the list and they had a few emergencies in between!

Seriously, they all went really well. Arrived at 7.30 and was walked down with DH around 11ish every time.

Our midwife was with us and they looked after DH as much as they did me and our babies.

Once it was all finished, I felt a bit of pulling about but nothing dramatic we were taken into the recover room, I had a rope ladder to pull myself into a sitting position where you can try and feed (if you want to)

It took a little while to regain all feeling but I was gently hobbling about after a few hours and home the next morning.

Good luck, try and see it as a positive thing, you are going to get to say hello to a lovely bundle of love

My planned csection was lovely there was a fun jokey atmosphere in theatre. The junior docs kept trying to persuade me to name a twin after him ;-)
They checked thoroughly you can't feel anything I remember asking when they would start just before a baby was shown to me ;-)

My elf was the best day of my life. It was amazing. I was scared shitless too

I was the same. I couldn't imagine a baby in my arms. I just could t get passed the idea of having surgery. We only told our parents as I wouldn't have handled good luck texts.

We found out the day before it was being brought forward

I was terrified even on the day and during surgery but partner was with me and that's all I wanted. Ask if he can go in with you when you have the spinal that's all I wanted.

Don't forget you're still in control we asked for delayed cord clamping and immediate skin to skin.

You'll be grand OP! I've had a few and they've all gone swimmingly. Lovely atmosphere in the theatre. Time will simultaneously drag and fly by at the same time, it is in deed surreal. If you're nervous just remember you're just first on the list of a long list of emcs tomorrow, it's run of the mill to these people (in the nicest possible way!).

Here you go op I think this thread will help, it's a current active thread with meters who have had or are having elcs I was maybe going to need a c section for this preg (placenta previa) and have been following the thread and found it really useful. I found out today I now don't need one as placenta has moved.

It is surreal isn't it. And so true about time rushing and slowing simultaneously. I swear nothing happened as fast as my section in my life. I was in recovery room in seconds, but I went into the theatre at about 9:20, and was out about 11:15. But I swear it was seconds!

The staff are just so utterly lovely too you too

I much preferred my elcs over my natural birth experience! All very calm and when asked if I wanted to know when they started and I answered yes please - well they already had made all the incisions and my baby was shown to me straight away! Good luck and how exciting that you will be meeting your little girl tomorrow - welcome to the world little one
