Anyone had Gestational Diabetes and an Induction?

I am 4 wks away for the planned if event. Whoop whoop!

I had my last check up and scan for GD yesterday and while baby is absolutely fine and not too big they have set me an induction date.
Has anyone else been though this?

Don't know if I should get hubby to drop me off and wait till labour kicks in or be ready for labour to start... Eek!

Your help and previous experience would be gratefully appreciated.

Me! I has gd with dd2 and had an induction at 37 weeks. I had the pessary put in at 9am dp stayed with me we could leave the ward and just had to come back every few hours for monitoring. It was boring so take lots to do. He went home at about 10ish. I had a few crampy pains through the night and mild contractions for a bit. They examined me at 8 the next morning and I was 2-3cms dilated.
I went down to delivery and they broke my waters, I had polyhydraminos so I soaked the doctor! They gave me and hour or so to see what happened. I started contracting but apparently not enough so they put me on the drip they would increase the level every half an hour. I decided to have an epidural and they didn't increase it until my epidural was in place. My dd was born at 7 that evening. Induction gets a lot of bad press but mine was great. I had no intervention or stitches and it was a really positive experience. I pushed dd out fine despite the epidural and she was back to back and was born stargazing! Oh and she was a normal weight too 7lb 13. I've since gone on to have two more dc and didn't have gd with either pregnancies.

My sister had GD and was induced, but it was actually for pre-eclampsia. She was 39 weeks and just had one pessary before labour kicked off!

They told me that once I was in I was staying in, so had no idea what to expect really.

Finger crossed for you, I meant to say if you can I would say have your dp with you. You never know how quick things could go or even if it's just to have someone to chat to or rub your back while you are contracting.

I have twice now. Both times I needed one pessary to dilate a bit. Then a very long boring wait for space on delivery ward (over 30hrs with dc1). I wasn't in labour, it was just boring and a bit stressful waiting. Then they broke my waters and I had the drip. First time round I had an epidural, second time I didn't. It was better with the epidural. Both times were pretty positive though and both born without any further help. Actual labours were about 6and 5ish I think with very little pushing required. Just a lot of waiting around before things got started.

Personally I sent dh home once the pessary was in but I suppose that might be risky if the pessary really kick starts things. In my case I had a few mild contractions (I guess the equivalent of pre-labour) but no pain until they started me on the drip.
