I think my waters have just gone!

Sat here shaking like a leaf! Was in a semi-dream state having a not very pleasant dream when I thought "I need the loo" heaved myself in to a sitting position and felt a bit wet down below so put my hand between my legs, it was very wet. Thought "shit, I've managed to get to 38 weeks without wetting myself, why now?". Stood up to go to the bathroom and 'gush'.

wiped it up, it's perfectly clear and doesn't smell and is keeping coming.

I have no contractions but had a few twinges and Braxton hicks since Xmas eve.

I feel sick now! I'm shaking. This is it, isn't it? Shit.

Good luck! If things dont kick off soon, make sure to chat to your midwife/ labour ward tomorrow as sometimes they dont like to leave it too long after waters have gone.

I called MAU who told me I could either go in now, be checked over and likely sent home to wait, or I could go back to bed, go in in the morning, likely to be sent home to wait, so I chose option 2. Trying to sleep now, might be the last I get for a while. I'd be given a date to be induced too if things haven't started. Midwife on the phone was really helpful

Getting rolling period type pain now and the odd back ache, which I assume is the start of things. Have calmed down a bit too, and put the last bits in my hospital bag. No longer shaking!

Question- do you still get cervical mucus after your waters have gone?

The same thing happened to me on Thursday except I was 36 weeks. I found I had blood streaked mucus when wiping several times after the waters broke.
Waters went at 4am. By 5pm I was having quite nasty but completely bareable back pain every few minutes. By 8:30pm I was fully dilated and DD arrived at 9:05pm.

My second and third labours started with my waters going first. Dd1 was born about 13 hours after they went, dd2 was born about 3 hours after.

On the antenatal ward, was 2cm dialated at 9am. Awaiting another examination. Contractions strong and regular. I have utter admiration for those who do it more than once.

A little boy, delivered by forceps following 21hours of labour (4 pushing). He is perfect! Retained placenta was not pleasant though.
