Overdue second time round

Hi, I thought second babies were supposed to arrive closer to their due date. My dd was born at 40 weeks and 5 days. I'm now 40 weeks and 4 days, but with none of the signs of impending labour that preceded my dd's birth. Were other people later 2nd time? And if so, by how much? It's getting closer and closer to Christmas!

Later 2nd time. 8 days late with 1st one, 11 days late with 2nd - sorry.

I was 10 days late with DD1 (she was induced in the end) and 8 with DD2

are you doing all the usual tricks?

can you have a sweep?

Was induced with all 4 of mine in the end!!! Perhaps your 2nd is a bit smaller and wants a bit longer or perhaps you are just going to have a really quick birth!

Hi my 1st was 11 days late, second was 6 days early, am due with no3 in 6 days, and showing no signs that i am going to go any time soon, been trying all the tricks

4 days late with first, 10 days late with second and had to have a sweep.

Thanks for your replies. I guess there's no way of predicting really. Midwife recommended lots of sex , but neither me nor my DH can quite face it for medicinal purposes at this stage. (TMI?) Am due to have a sweep on Thursday (41 weeks and 2 days) if nothing has happened. Have been told they will let me go to 43 weeks before being induced, but with regular scans. The idea of being 43 weeks pg!!

DS1 was born 8 days early, DS2 was born on his due date, this one is due in 9 days time and keeps threatning to show her face but never quite getting ther

I was 41+3 with DS1 and 40+4 with DS2.

Lots of women carry longer than others. The 40weeks is a general average. Your babies obviously take a little longer to cook! Don't fret. I bet you post within the next few days to say that your second baby has been born!

DS2 - ten days late, induced.
