Elective C-section after due date?

I was wondering if anyone else had experience with an elective c-section planned after the due date?

Because the hospitals near me are too busy, I am scheduled to have mine at 40+4 and I'm very nervous that I will go into natural labour before then, which would result in an emergency c-section and possibly a general anesthetic, which I want to avoid at all costs.

I've had 3 emcs and the latter two should have been elcs.

There is some evidence that it is better for the baby if you are in labour as it shows it is ready to come. Dc3 was in fact ,35 weeks but all well and he was fighting himself out. Like he is fighting on my breast now...

This is all very reassuring, thank you so much for sharing your experiences. Feeling a lot more relaxed now about the possibility of an EMCS. :)
