having braxton hicks?

Hi, I'm currently 37+5, having braxton hicks (I think) 3-4 times an hour. Should I tell someone? What if I' dilating and don't know it? I don't want to be told by midwife/ doc that I'm being silly. What is considered too many braxton hicks to be normal.

If it's just Brixton hicks then you can get loads of them and still be nowhere near pre-labour, let alone established labour. Ring your community midwife in the morning to put your mind at ease, but there's no requirement to phone it in otherwise!

If you think it's contractions not BH then call the labour ward tonight but chances are they will tell you to stay home and see how you go.

Do they hurt? I had braxton hicks constantly for the last 2 weeks, constant tightening, my stomach would go square and then soft, on and off all day. Mine were totally painless.

If it's painful then they could be contractions, if it's not then I doubt they are, but your body is getting ready!

I had BH the last two months a lot! And turns out about 2 months before my baby girl was due, Doctor took me out of work because it turns out that all those BH were actually causing me to thin out. I was thinned out all the way at like 32 weeks. It was because I was on my feet all day and the BH are stronger when moving around a lot ... So I would go to doctors and ask if they could check your cervix just in case because you feel like your having a lot.

What exactly do BH feel like? I think I'm getting them...my belly starts to feel very strange, not tightening but more as if it's getting heavier and expanding, but if I touch it it's very hard. Then it passes. It's not painful, just a bit weird and uncomfortable. Is that BH?

2nd pregnancy full term when to the hospital and was told BH - had a baby three quarters of an hour later, so I alway best to get checked out. x

I have been having something which feels like really mega-strong period pains, which I thought were BH, but having read more they are supposed to be painless? These are just one-off pains that last for 5-6 minutes or so... anyone had this?

I don't think you need to do anything - the advice from our midwives is to call when you can't talk through a contraction and they are coming regularly, every few minutes. As you are full term it can only be a good thing if you are dilating a bit before your proper labour starts.
