c section scar infection - cream?

Hello!

Just been to the GP yesterday as I noticed my scar had come apart and was a bit smelly. He gave me some cream and sent me on my way. Looking through all the posts it seems like many people have a really hard time healing and go through many courses of antibiotics and wound care specialists.

Has anyone healed just through the antibiotic cream? I'm worried that the GP just fobbed me off :(

Did he tell you how soon you should see an improvement? If you go that long and don't see an improvement you need to go back.

Topical antibiotics are fine for localised infection. But...

If you have a deterioration, fever, or you feel really grim you need to seek urgent care as at that point you may need systemic antibiotics.

And rest! Honestly it is so easy to overdo it after a section. I did a couple of times and really felt shit after.

Rest, apply cream, go back if you feel worse/it's not healing.
