Transverse babies at term - when/how did you have yours? Weight?

DB appears to be determinedly transverse and the MW said yesterday it would probably be small too(mind you she said DS would be 7lbs and he was 9'11!). It has got me wondering if those who are transverse are smaller than their ceph. counterparts.

Also, I've had a trawl through the archives and found c-sections for transverse ranging from 36 to 41 weeks. So I'm interested in when most people had their babies.

Anyone?

All 3 of my babies were transverse. They were born at:

1. 36 weeks elective c-sect due to IUGR and transverse lie. Weighing 4lb 11oz

1. 38 weeks elective c-sect weighing 6lb 14 oz

1. 36 weeks emergency c-sect due to premature labour. Weighing 6lb 4oz. Elective was booked for 39 weeks - which I understand is a new policy to leave them to cook as long as possible.

Thanks for that. Did they say your DSs were smaller due to the lie or because of the earliness of them?

I was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus a few years before DS1 was born. My babies lie transverse because they can't curl up into the usual foetal position. When pregnant with DS1 he stopped growing (or rather growth slowed) at around 28 weeks so I was monitored and delivered early. The placenta was rank, grey, calcified and obviously failing to support the poor chap. This was due to the placenta being embedded on the septum of the uterus. In the other two pregnancys the placenta was in good shape but the boys were little - they made up for it once out, but I remember DS3 having rolls of skin on his legs like little baggy trousers (now filled with chubbiness!) My uterus is generally blamed for the smallnes of my babies as not a great shape for the placenta to bed in, but they were all healthy on delivery and only DS2 - the heaviest needed a bit of oxygen to get him going on delivery.

Gosh, that sounds rather dramatic - good to hear they are chubby now! I know with my other 2 the placenta was very healthy and a good size (as were DS and DD) so I'm presuming it'll be the same this time.

I'm 36 weeks now and off for a scan next week when I'll be 37. I've been getting twitchy about lots of things - that the baby won't have the room to grow, cord prolapse, etc. - so while I'm eager to get the baby here safely I recognise that it staying put in the meantime is the best place for it to be.

Mine were transverse DTs with a presenting cord. There was never any option for me but an elective.
