pain in chest after c section

I had a emergency c section on Saturday night, so four days ago now. Yesterday afternoon I started experiencing a tight feeling in my chest every time I am sat or lying down. Its very uncomfortable and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Could it be trapped wind?

It could be, but any chest pain, or unusual pain after surgery, needs checking by a doctor.

Call your care team and check with them.

gingkofeesh · 01/10/2015 18:50

could be a result of fluid/a little blood in the abdominal cavity irritating the diaphragm after the surgery, which is normal, but as Skiptonlass said you need checking out - sooner rather than later, definitely call them and take advice.
congrats on the birth of your baby :)

Also what medication are you on? I was put on a different med from the usual and experienced a lot of the side effects. But do speak to your dr.

Thanks ladies.

I lost 4 pints of blood during the section and needed a transfusion, so they have put me on:

Co-amoxiclav antibiotics.
Ferrous Sulphate iron tablets - I am now apparently anemic due to blood loss.
Ibuprofen and paracetamol

That's it.

When I'm walking around its fine but sitting and lying down makes met chest feel its being pushed on.

hope you're feeling ok today. do go and get checked out, if you haven't already. they may want to rule out anything rare/unlikely but needing treatment, like a blood clot. if you feel short of breath/dizzy with it then get help. Flowers

Well I took the advise and went to GP to get it checked out.

Ended up being taken to hospital by ambulance, had a CT scan and they discovered I have a nasty infection in my womb due to the emergency section! Being pumped full of fluids and antibiotics and feeling much better today.

Thankfully I got it checked when I did or the situation could have been far worse.

@lauraa4 same here

I know this is a thread from a long time but does anyone know about re-occurring chest pain after c section? I keep having it, I take painkillers but the chest pain is so bad, leaves me breathless. God help me! Sad
I take clexane 40mg injections to stop any blood clots. Did any of you up your dose to a higher level?

I would call 111 and discuss it with a medical professional. Unless it gets worse, then call 999.

dreamingdream · 01/08/2021 00:42

I have called 111, 999 and I have been in hospital again and again, several times. I was told it could be anxiety/stress causing these chest pains or I need to increase the clexane (enoxaparin sodium) anti blood clot injections. I am taking 40mg clexane daily for 6 weeks but I might be told to take the 60mg one, I don't know yet. I am being closely monitored by the medical team due to my medical situation so they will update me on my meds. It's gone to a point now where the consultant wants to get involved. I have a lot of medical problems, it's the chest pain that is the most scary at the moment, it literally makes it harder to breathe and I start collapsing to the ground gasping for air. It's a tightness feeling on the heart. This is the fourth time I have collapsed in a few days.

Infection? COVID?

dreamingdream · 01/08/2021 18:05

I got tested a few days ago, I'm negative for covid.

I had a c section surgery, I was given antibiotics when I complained the first time of this unusual chest pain, the medical team said it might have been an infection. But I finished my course of antibiotics and the chest pain continues Sad

Go back and ask them to review.

Yes I am having a review appointment very soon, they are going to discuss my medications. Maybe the dosage of the medications need changing?? I am scheduled for a blood test soon.
