40+12 here and last night my waters broke. I'm now at home waiting for contractions to start. This happened with DS1 and I got a natural birth. DS2 I got pains before waters went. I have till 8am tomorrow before the hospital want to talk induction but apparently 80% of women start naturally within 24 hrs of waters going. Getting some tightening but no actual pain.

Good luck. I gave birth to DS1 naturally the morning his induction was booked. I think he knew it was time. He's never liked being told what to do.

When my waters broke I went on a vigorous walk - contractions started a few hours later. Good luck

When my waters broke with dd2 l had to call triage and because l had group strep b they asked me to come in. I had no pains but went in. After an internal to confirm my waters had gone (yes l did give the mw this face Hmm) it started my labour and dd2 was born 4 hours later.

Good luck!

ShowOfHands · 29/09/2015 12:18

Best of luck. My waters broke first with both of mine (contractions started not long after that).

All the best for the birth. Smile

No contractions yet :( just tightening and general discomfort. Starting to get worried about having to be induced tomorrow morning and it's probably not helping. Really wish it was over now and DS's 1 and 2 were coming to meet their brother.

Time to start marching up and down some stairs!

fredandme123 · 29/09/2015 20:27

Go and have a relaxing bath and early night before newborn mayhem starts tomorrow. (Sods law dictates that the minute you snuggle down in bed to sleep it will KICK OFF in your tum)
Wishing you a good labour and happy healthy bubba.

Pipnposy · 29/09/2015 20:37

Good luck! With my DC3, my contractions didn't start until 22 hours after my waters broke, but then he was born within 2 hours so still under the 24 hours 'limit' :)

ShowOfHands · 30/09/2015 10:02

How are things today DrCoconut?

I hope that things either started naturally or you took the opportunity to get some rest and sleep.

DrCoconut · 30/09/2015 13:40

In hospital being induced. I so wanted to avoid this but my waters have gone totally and I've been advised not to wait. The pessary has made me feel crampy but no real progress so far. My mum is coming to visit with chocolate and trashy magazines soon so that will cheer me up a bit.

Good luck Dr!

Luciferbox · 30/09/2015 17:12

Funnily DS2 had to be induced. Pessary took a while to kick in but once the cramps started the contractions started quickly. DH almost didn't make it back (middle of the night)

MissMarpleCat · 30/09/2015 17:15

Good luck Dr, you'll soon be cuddling your long awaited baby Smile

DrCoconut · 01/10/2015 13:28

DS3 was born last night at 20:53. He weighs 7lbs 6oz and is a real cutie. I ended up on a drip but then went from nothing to holding a baby in 2 hrs 13 minutes! Horrible pain while it lasted but a brilliant result! And no stitches!

Finally it's happening.
