Induction

I'm in the hospital being induced.

It's my first baby. I'm due today (14th).

They gave me the pessary at about 11.30 yesterday. Initially, I thought things were happening. I felt lightheaded and woozy. I have had tightenings but no real regular contractions. When I get tightenings I get a cluster of them, then they stop completely. They aren't hugely painful.

How long do you think I'll be waiting? I'm so uncomfortable, can't sleep and feeling sick. I am also desperate to meet my baby!

Sorry no advice but just lurking as I am due to be induced tomorrow and have the same concerns about how long it might take! Good luck x

Good luck. I wasn't induced but had what sounds similar all day. Things ramped up dramatically that evening and baby came at 2am.

Sounds very likely you will have a baby later today-
Good luck!

My first pessary was not put in correctly and was uncomfortable, once I had persuaded someone to have a look at it (when it was put right) things started moving quickly

Mine won't be the best experience on here, but I'm going to write it just so you know!

I had 3 pessaries on 3 consecutive days. On the 4th day, they broke my waters then put me on the drip. None of that worked and I ended up with a c section.

Sure that's not what you wanted to hear, but in case, be prepared! Magazines, download films / boxsets onto a tablet and sleep when you can! Either way, you'll meet your baby soon!

Doje - I think I may have a similar experience to you.

The Dr was 5 hours late checking my first pessary! Tightenings still happening, though maybe a bit more painful than they were at 5am this morning.

Had a second pessary today at around 5pm. But my cervix hasn't done what it's supposed to. Given that they were five hours late checking me (emergency in the delivery ward, I'm not happy, but understand that's the way it is) I don't think I'll meet my baby until tomorrow or the day after.

Oh well, it'll happen soon enough!

I hope it all goes well Arv! Even if it does take time..... Enjoy the quiet time, and all the people bringing you food (my hospital for was pretty good - especially the puddings!). I watched the final series of Breaking Bad waiting for my little fella to make an appearance.

Good luck!

Contractions have ramped up I think. They make me want to do a poo. Is this normal?

Yes, that is totally normal ARV1981. Hopefully things will take over today without further intervention. Be great to finally see your baby! Good luck.
