Hi

I'm considering VBAC after EMCS, following a failed induction with my DS at 37 weeks.

The first time round I was induced due to pre-eclampsia and rising BP (pre-eclampsia diagnosed at 33 weeks).

be good to hear your thoughts and experiences on VBAC and if anyone has been in a similar situation, in particular with regard to failed induction.

I didn't have a failed induction but I did have a vbac following an emergency c section and it all went well. I had previously had a 'normal birth' too so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. But my vbac birth was very straight forward and I was glad I tried it.

Thank you Mouseybrown. Have already said I'd like to go for VBAC but having last minute nerves now I've reached 35 weeks!

I had a vbac after a failed induction. Personally it went really well and I much preferred it but no 2 births are the same. I would be very positive about VBAC but keep an open mind. Is the pre eclampsia a possibility this time around, that might determine things if it does.

I recently had a VBAC after an EMCS (labour was induced). All went well until the last minute when baby wouldn't come out. Was whipped into theatre for forceps which thankfully worked as they gave it onepush/pull otherwise would have needed another EMCS. Baby was 10lb 3oz.
So was all fine for me but had it not worked I'd have ended up with an episiotomy (from the forceps attempt) AND a c section plus my baby was 2 weeks late so I could have saved all the bother and had a c section delivery 3 weeks sooner.
Don't regret anything and would deffo chiose VBAC again...

I had a vbac a year after an emcs.

Ds2 was early and tiny - the experiences were worlds apart. Ds1 (emcs) = hideous. Ds2 (vbac) = miles better.

I had elcs after emcs. I regret the elcs and wish.I'd tried vbac, I didn't have a calm or happy elcs, though lots of women seem to like them.

Thank you so much for all your replies. anothernumberone thankfully Pre-eclampsia looks unlikely this time round. BP started to rise with DS at 28 weeks and I had terrible odema & felt rubbish. Thankfully all fine this time round so far.

Starfish12 interesting to hear your experience, glad it all went well for you. It is worth bearing in mind that in the worse case I could end up with more invadive surgery if VBAC fails though, I hadn't considered that!

ShooBeeDoo and Pennypitstoppe I found recovery after my EMCS tough so really dread the thought of another c-section, especially with a toddler to look after this time round. Pennypitstoppe it's interesting that you felt the ELCS wasn't much better than EMCS as that's pretty much what my gut instinct says. My EMCS was pretty calm and surgeons were great but I felt awful for at least 6 weeks afterwards.
