Hospitals from Bishops Stortford

I live in Bishops Stortford and have just found out I am pregnant (first time). I am keen to give birth at the Midwife Life Unit at the Rosie in Cambridge, rather than Harlow (family in Cambridge, would be more convenient and preferable for all sorts of reasons). Right now I am not even registered with a GP. Does anyone have any recommendations of GPs that they know will refer me to Addenbrookes? In fact, any recommendations of GPs in Stortford fullstop? - I have heard not good things...

Thanks everyone! Up hideously late with pregnancy insomnia...

Have you tried posting on MN Local?

Oh thanks - I'm new here so don't know how to do that! Will check it out though!

Congratulations!

I can't help on the recommendations regarding getting referred to Cambridge - but I would definitely not rule out Harlow. I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant and under the Princess Alexandra. I haven't had the easiest pregnancy and the care I've received has been nothing short of outstanding. The birthing unit there has fantastic reviews also.

I self-referred to the midwives, so it may be worth checking whether Cambridge has a similar system.

You most definitely need to get yourself registered with a GP ASAP - I found when I moved into the area that most GP surgeries had very small catchments and therefore I didn't really have a choice of where I registered. You might need to investigate this via the NHS Choices website.
