C section wound opening

Hello, just after a bit of advice. I had elcs two weeks ago yesterday. Recovering very well - much more mobile than i anticipated. I have still been taking it easy.

Last night I noticed a small opening at the far end of the wound. Wound last looked at Monday by midwife. I'm not sure how long it has been there as wound is hard to see but last night i used a mirror.

It is small - less than 1cm. It was a little bit sticky. I cleaned it, and aired for a bit but having to wear pants/pad so can't leave it uncovered.

This morning, bit sticky again with bit of dried stuff. Also a couple of hairs came away when i cleaned it - i think these may be the cause as previously noticed hair sticking out
What would you do? I'm going to call 111 for advice but obvs its Saturday, and I'm not fit to drive.

if this was me I'd get an out of hours apt to check for infection (I am a worrier though). I'd not want to wait 48hrs for a midwife to look at it. neither of mine opened when healing, I had some redness and soreness but nothing more.

If it is red, sore, swollen i.e. signs of infection, then you need to get it looked at today, suggest you call your midwife's number, as there should be a MW on covering the weekend.
If it is not showing signs of infection then wash your hands, then clean it with tap water and pull the sides of the wound together and stick a piece of micropore tape or similar to keep the edges together and cover with a dressing, then get it checked by your practice nurse or MW on Monday.
As long as it is only a small area, centimetre or so, it should be ok.
Any sign of it becoming inflamed or larger, then again you need to get it checked.
Perhaps a friend or neighbour could take you to Walk in or OOH place?

Thank you. I called the 111number and spoke to a couple of people. It is not bleeding, painful, red or inflamed looking. Edges are a bit pink but i think that's normal. I have been advised to clean, and apply a steri strip then sterile dressing. If it gets worse/starts to look infected they Will send someone out.

Would happen on a weekend!! There is no walk in or out of hours place, would have to be A & E.

I had this & it wasn't Sore or red or infected looking. I gave it a wipe with special first aid wipes & then put 2 steri-strips over it & within a couple of days it was perfect! Not a Dr though, so like others have said if in doubt.... Check it out! X

Do you have maternity triage at the hospital you had the baby? You know where you go if you have bleeding etc? They'd see you and get a doctor down if required.

I couldn't steri strip it. The edges are kind of healed and where the would is in the natural fat crease it just didn't work. Have put a dressing on it for now and kept it clean.

I can't really get to the hospital atm although could probably get a lift if i really needed to.
