Has anyone tried Hypnobirthing?

Hi

We're not ttc no 2 just yet but I am interested to hear from anyone who has tried hypnobirthing.

After an awful birth experience with DD I am really keen to look into alternative ways to help me with future births (that's if I'm lucky enough to experience it again).

Thanks
Lucy

i haven't but some of these ladies have!

if you have had an awful birth experience, you can get in touch with birth crisis organisations to talk it through..can give you some links

i believe it is really important to work through and 'put to bed' any issues you have re birth before you go for it again..x

I did hypnobirthing, and it helped me through a pain free induction.

Well not pain free, but I didn't really notice any time going by, and the pain was negligable. When I first took the classes I didn't think it would work, but in the end I made it work for me. The nice thing was that most people that I know that have done hypnobirthing come out feeling informed and understand that there is pain, but it's natural and they don't call it "labor" because it's easy. The people I know that took Lamaze come out saying, I am going to need an epidural.

Hi ladies

thanks for your replies. lulumama coincidence that was also a "lucy" asking about hypnobirthing! I've got an appointment in 3 wks time with a consultant at my hospital to discuss DD birth, hoping to understand what happened and why.

MKG - yeah I understand what you're saying. With DD I panicked, I felt like the pain would never end and didn't go with each contraction.

Thanks
Lucy

I know this thread may have gone off the boil, but I can't say enough good things about Hypnobirthing.
Had DS in June, he was baby no. 1 & I was determined to go the natural route (& try for home birth), we took HB classes from about 32 wks & had wonderful teacher. Not only did I manage to be firm in my aims (not always easy with no.1) & stay at home, I got through 5 days of contractions (no let up greater than 10 mins) & much puking & had no pain relief at all (except pool). (Knackered at end, begged for gas, told too late, LO popped out moments later). Moreover, he's a very happy and chilled babe and I never have problems getting to sleep again after being woken in the night 'cos I still use the relaxation techniques.
