Elcs , what happens if i go into labor?

Hi all, I'm planning on having elcs I haven't really got a medical reason for it , I've just read up on pros and cons of vb after a previous section and think it's better for me and I have ocd so a fixed date would be easier for me to deal with.
I'm getting the date at my next antenatal appointment Monday, I think it will be at 39weeks. But I'm convinced my baby is going to be early. Will I still get a section of I go into labor before my date?

I worried about that as my ELCS was booked for 38+5. The consultant said it would just turn into an EMCS if I went into labour so not quite as calm and relaxed but still a CS not a VB. Ask them the question though to reassure yourself. Good luck with it all x

I'm having an ELCS and was told as its a non medical reason for my decision & I labour quickly I may be left to get on with it! Hmm
I'm therefore hoping I won't go into labour early!
I was two weeks late with my last two so I think I'll be ok!

That's what I'm worried about. I've never had a vb so no idea how I would labour but from what I've read I have higher risk of complications because I 've never done it.

Chances are they'd treat you as a low level emergency c section so I wouldn't worry.

I was thinking the same thing-I'm having an ELCS for anxiety (also have OCD too-it's crap isn't it?!!). Keep meaning to ask my mw what'll happen. Fingers crossed baby will wait! Good luck with yours vikki!

I had an Elcs and asked the question.

I was told if I went into labour early I would be taken down for section as soon as possible.

I didn't though and had a wonderful planned ELCS all very calm and planned!!

Good luck

I went into labour six weeks before c section was booked. Waters broke. Still had c section but was in labour for 9 hours first. If you go into labour before c section date they will do an emergency c section as quick as possible. Mine took a bit longer to organise I was having twins yada yada. If all theatres are busy you may be transferred to a different hospital.

I have my ocd under control most of the time but all the unknown possibilities of birth are freaking me out big time. I'm a lot better since dd1 was born, but anything that makes me nervous sets it off big time , vb just have to many variables for me to cope with. I thought having a planned section would help but now I'm panicking baby will be early.
Hope all goes well for you too Matilda

If baby is early you will still have a section. Focus on that.

I had planned a c section but started having contractions two days before the c section was booked. I went straight to the hospital and they monitored me. The contractions stopped but they kept me in anyway and I had my c section as planned. If the contractions had continued they just would have done the CS then.

BTW, I have had 2 planned CS and one vaginal delivery and the CS' were both lovely experiences
