Well I have had the midwives round today to talk about home birth. The home birth itself is fine and they are really pro which is fantastic. However, I live in a flat so there is the usual checking about floor structure should I want a pool.

Now I know that problems are rare, I know how much it weighs etc but since the midwives are so pro home birth I'm not inclined to think that it is reluctance on their part.

So, anybody actually not been able to have a pool due to floors not being strong enough? How do I go about checking it?

I cant really help your question but what pool are you having?

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 18:39

I have brought a 'birth pool in a box' one, I haven't got any problem with the weight of it but I am sure I remember reading that it will weigh about the same as 12 grown men stood very close together, I am sure most houses/flats built in the last 80-90 years would be fine. If your flat is in an old building then maybe it is something to worry about more?

Natalie I'm due December 28th!

lulumama I have seen that thread but my flat is old so I'm after info on how to get a survey done!

Off to Guides now so not replying for a while!
