Two previous sections - will I have to have a third?

First section will be 3 years ago at time of birth, hopefully if all goes well and second one will be 13 months ago.

Is VBAC an option or will it be an automatic cs?

At my hospital (Kings) there are women who have attempted a vbac after 2 CS.
I would imagine it's your choice.
Why did you have C sections previously?

I wanted to try a VBAC after two sections. I took along the NICE guidelines which state that it should be a choice to try for a VBAC after two, but the consultant was dead against it and said my baby would be at risk of death as would I*
Clearly I wasn't going to choose to try for a VBAC after being told this so elected for another section after months of trying and researching.

I've just been on the nhs VBAC course at the hospital and would recommend it as it covers both options. There was a woman there going for VBAC after 2 sections, but as others have said your options and % chance of success will depend on your previous births and how this pregnancy is going so it's very personal as everyone's history is different

I would recommend a serious discussion with a senior obstetrician about risks of VBAC with your small age gap. I have had a recent planned section with a slightly larger gap, my scar was found to be very thin at surgery and a VBAC attempt would have been extremely risky. I feel so lucky that we chose a planned section. DH had to keep reminding me in the pregnancy that that was also the consultants advice, as I kept having some wobbles about it. I shudder when I think of what might have been. Helps me get the pain of the wound in perspective.

I too have a small age gap Lilipot which will be 13 months and they are pushing me towards VBAC, so I'll be sure to mention that, thank you. Sorry for thread high jacking OP!

Abbey - yes, I have no idea if there are any other factors that contributed to my issues, but definitely ask about it. My consultant said if I were to have another baby there should be a two year gap and that I would be very closely monitored.
Difference between em-CS and planned was notable - much calmer and less tiring.
