Am I in Labour?

I was due my first baby on Thursday. I have not had BH before but I woke up this morning with what I thought might be contractions. I also had a bit of blood. The "contractions" are infrequent but whilst painful are bearable. Am I in Labour? What should I do?

Bloody show is a good sign. Call your practitioner to let them know what is going on. They may want you to come in. When my sil was overdue she woke up with a bloody show and the doctor told her to come in right away.

was the blood with some mucus? Get as much rest as you can while the contractions are bearable, and ring midwife/hospital. Good Luck!!! ((hugs)) xxx

Thanks for the advice. I have just rung the midwife and she has told me to get plenty of rest xx

sounds like you have had a show and your body is gearing up for birth with the braxton hicks....

real labour contractions

do not stop!

increase in intensity
the time between them decreases
often accompanied by backache
have a regularity and a rhythm

make sure you rest lots and keep your fluids up....

sit on a birth ball if you have one to help get baby right down and take a walk if you can...

happy birthing...
