Am 36wks 5days. Phoned midwife a few days ago with regular cramping overnight which eased off and she said was Braxton hicks contractions. Have had worsening Braxton hicks, back pain and EXCRUCIATING pelvic pain over last 2 days and this morning had what I think was mucous plug (no blood in it tho?) pelvic pain so bad today I can hardly walk but am reluctant to phone midwife again as don't want to seem really anxious (and her exact words were "I don't want to hear about a mucous plug, it means nothing". What does everyone think I should do? Sorry for long post!!

I had exactly the same as you at 32+6. MW told me the same as you, it wasn't a problem. By the time I got to hospital, I was 8cm, and had DS within 1/2 hour (with no pain relief).

I would call.

Trust your instincts. If it feels like more than BH it could well be. Call and go in to be checked. My mucous plug went and I went into labour the next morning so it can mean something

The plug doesn't mean too much & BH can go on for a good whilst but just check if they are contractions so have a bath, a drink and then see where you are.

There's never anything wrong with calling the assessment unit but they don't want to see you until the baby's crowing... they're understaffed and looking after women in labour isn't a priority for them.

Good luck op!

She sounded very helpful!
I would have thought they would have wanted to see you given your 'technically' not term yet (although I'm sure everything will be completely fine if it is labour).

I had regular contractions and show and they asked me to come in and I was past my due date!

If it helps, I had a lot of braxton hicks with both pregnancies from 37 weeks onwards. With dd2 I had regular painful ones for a week before labour so it might still be a while.
Hope you're ok
X

What a crap mw Angry Get yourself to MAC. You're not term, have lost your plug and you're in pain.....I'd say it's actually negligence if they weren't to see you! A lady on my antenatal thread went into prem labour last week with similar symptoms so please just go in.

Hadron21 · 01/06/2015 18:04

Get yourself to the hospital. Just in case there is something wrong. Get yourself checked over. X

Hope you're in safe hands now! Don't let grumpy midwives fob you off. They're not doing their job properly if they're making you feel like you're being a burden or a pain. Nag and nag until they give in! And let us know how you get on.

Any update op?

Jennifersox · 04/06/2015 18:45

Severe spd and Braxton hicks I'm afraid. Baby only 1/5 engaged... Looks like plug really did mean nothing and I'll be here for a while :( thanks for help all xx
