sex after episiotomy- how long did you wait?

Just that really! I gave birth nearly 3 weeks ago, certainly dont feel up to it yet but was wondering how long it takes for that dept to start feeling 'normal' again

Mine was fine after 4 weeks, it was a little uncomfortable the first time but not really painful and we took it slowly. Plenty of people I know waited longer though, you should do whatever you feel comfortable with.

I can't remember when exactly mine healed but I didn't dtd until around 15 weeks as that's when I finally felt comfortable and ready in general. Everyone's different though. Some are ready sooner, others much later.

Six weeks, ish. It was a bit tender at first but we went slowly and it was fine. We still have to go slow at first now, a year later, but DH understands and is always gentle.

Tried after the 6 week check but it was bloody awful. Took at least a year to get back to normal, but we don't have sex that often tbh. I think if you got more regular practice in it would be easier far sooner than that!

Thanks everyone. One of my stitches came open last week so I'm expecting it may take a little longer than usual to heal...good to know you dont have to wait forever though

I probably could have taken the plunge and done it sooner but I'm a big wuss when it comes to this sort of thing
