ECV

Hi I'm due to get a ECV on Thursday. I will be 37+6. Baby has been breech since about 30 weeks and not wanting to move lol. Anyone else had one? What's everyone experiences?

have to dash but didn't want to ignore... lots of ECV threads around from recent weeks ... might be worth having a scan back through childbirth and pregnancy topics.

My experience... absolutely go for it. Others have been the opposite.

Another very positive experience here. Uncomfortable but not painful. Baby turned, stayed the right way round and delivered naturally exactly on due date. But others have had different experiences.

I had a positive experience 11 years ago!
DD was transverse rather than breech, but they managed to turn her and she stayed there until birth at 40+12.

No such luck. They were unable to turn him due to the cord being around his face. Booked in for a c section 2nd June.

I had one at 36+5. It didn't work and I'm booked in for 2nd June c-section. Having said that I don't regret it and am glad I tried. My baby was well and truly lodged in my pelvis so the doctor didn't try for that long. Pain not as bad as I expected and they monitored the baby very carefully.

Just had one at 37 weeks and was successful (so far, fingers crossed!).I've seen some negative threads on here recently - like everything child related, no matter how incredibly rare any complications are, when they happen they are terrible. However, in the end for me it was about weighing up ECV risk vs the risk of delivering a breech baby naturally (very small with an experienced team, but real), or of having a c section (again very small but real). All of the three choices have mostly fantastic outcomes but also some bad ones. In the end I chatted it through with my GP as well as my mw and we're happy we made the right call for us.

As far as the actual procedure went, it was not a very comfortable feeling but not actually painful, if that makes sense? Afterwards I stayed hooked up for about an hour before I went home, baby has been active and as normal in the days since, though thank goodness the bladder kicking has moved!

The 'negative thread' was posted by a lady who tragically lost her baby following an ECV and wanted to make people aware of the risk (however small, it happened to her :( ). It was heartbreaking to read. Depends how anti cs you are really.
