Vbac success stories anyone?

I've had 2 sections and really hoping for a vba2c with my third. I had my 18 week consultant appointment last week and she didn't seem overly optimistic. Can anyone give me hope? My 1st was an emcs after a failed induction for pre-eclampsia. My 2nd was planned and for a complete previa. I've never really had a go at a vaginal birth, and it's important to me. Now, I have another consultant appointment after my 20 week scan so provided the placenta isn't anywhere stupid I can't see any reason why not.

Can anyone share any positive stories on vbacs in similar circumstances?

I've had 1section and think I'm having another in Aug, and all the info I've been given says you have to have a section for any baby after your 2nd. That might just be my local hospital I'm not sure. Just remember even if it's not going to be the way you would like, as long as you and baby are ok I dont think it really matters .

Thanks for the reply, what information have you been given? I have been given absolutely nothing, although I have read many encouraging stats by Googling, many of which said a vbac after 2 sections is almost identical in risk to a vbac after one.

I appreciate that if I have to have a section then I won't risk my baby, but I just think my consultant assumed I'd be having another one without considering it much. I haven't been told no, I have just met with pessimism, and I'm not having a section just because I had them before, I want good solid reasons and I'm not finding much.

I read (but not sure where) that after 1 cs risk of uterine rupture is 1:200. After 2 cs risk is 1:20. They need to monitor baby and scar very carefully which will mean your labour is less active and can slow things down.

Btw, I've had 2 cs, and now pregnant with dc3. Midwife supports my choice for vba2c but in reality I'll be having another CS for other reasons.

vbac at home with my third, last September. Best thing I've ever done.

No, bonzo, the nct says that the risk of uterine rupture is the same after 1 or 2 CSs.

Op, I had a vbac after a cs for breech. I'd recommend a doula or midwife experienced in vbac to help you - can you afford to hire a doula? That might be your best bet, as your consultant will just want a healthy baby and is not so concerned re your birth experience.

I had a home birth after 2 CS. It was an amazing, life-changing experience and I don't regret it for a second. My consultant was very supportive and agreed that risk of rupture was very similar as it would be after 1 CS.

I really wanted a home birth on my first, but we're an hour from the hospital in traffic so I don't think I'd risk attempting that now, just in case. I'd love to though, but I think I'd be anxious and that might ruin the experience. Were any of you worried? Maybe I should woman up and look into that.

I have priced a doula and it's a lot of money and we aren't exactly rolling in it. Also dp doesn't feel comfortable with a relative stranger in the room. I think it'd help though, he's very much a 'do as your midwife says' kind of guy and I could definitely do with someone prepared to stick up for me when I'm not necessarily in a position to do it for myself. I'll have to coach dp instead I think, and hope for a more open-minded doctor for my next appointment. If I don't get one, is it easy to change to a consultant that's more supportive?

Is there anything else I ought to be aware of? Is it true I'll get extra monitoring because of the previous sections? I suppose that means I'd have to fight for a water birth, which I'd like to try.
