Hello wondering if anyone could offer some advice I gave birth to my gorgeous baby boy last Friday, I had a straightforward natural delivery and the midwives told me I had some lacerations to each side of my vagina I obviously knew it would sting when I went for a wee but it was bearable my bleeding stopped on Thursday and after the bleeding has stopped ive developed this horrific pain in my vagina it feels like pressure and I i have an urge to push something out I am finding it extremely hard to pee so last night I went back to the post natal ward they examined me and said it seems like a water infection they dipped my urine but nothing came back they did a bladder scan and my bladder was full there inserted a catheter but it wouldn't empty my bladder they then went away for an hour came back with antibiotics and sent me in my way still in agony and still none the wiser as to what the pain as and on antibiotics for a uti which I don't have please help !

Thank you xx

Go back. That doesn't sound right.

Go back and insist on seeing a doctor. Bladder scanners can mistake other sources of fluid for the bladder. You need to have your abdomen properly examined by someone who knows what they're doing. Hope it all gets sorted out quickly, you have my complete sympathy.

I'm sure the OP saw a doctor - midwives don't do bladder scans or prescribe antibiotics! However it sounds like you need to ring the ward and go back to be seen again.

How are you doing op?

I had excruciating pain iny abdomen two weeks after giving birth which turned out to be a water infection. The pain in your vagina and urge to push sound bizarre to me though. My first thought was retained products.

I hope you got sorted.

Please go back, you could have retained products in your uterus which could make you very ill, do you have a temperature? If you need to insist on seeing a obstetric consultant.

Take care
