Tmi question about what's 'normal' with lochia.

No place like like Mumsnet for a tmi question so here goes.

DD was born 2 weeks ago, bleeding has gone from very heavy post delivery and it's now lighter (like a mid way period) but it's also gone from bright red to thick, lumpy and jet black, coming away in stringy lumps Blush

No fever/smell or pain.

I never had this with my previous birth or with normal periods.

Is this ok or should I see someone?

I would see someone. Actually I would call and try and speak to someone tonight. Ward you were discharged from? MAU? Just to get a midwifes opinion. That doesn't sound normal though.

I'll give the ward a call, thanks.

Did you give them a call? What was there advice?

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/05/2015 09:16

Yes I did, they said to keep a close eye but if there is no pain, itching, offensive smell or cold or flu like symptoms then it's fine to leave it.

Hope all is ok, midwife told me if clots are the size of a 50p coin then to get in contact too, just incase you weren't told that one.
